Donny Goeden captured the season opener for the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series by capturing Round 1 of Charter Raceway Park's Duel At The Dam. Goeden, last year's winningest IRA driver, picked up where he left off last season with another trip to victory lane aboard the Bob Walldan owned #11 Maxim. Despite starting on the front row, the win by no means came easy. Action galore throughout the field gave the fans who braved an extremely cold evening a show well worth the trip. Press Release (05-5-08)
Opening night at Charter Raceway Park was chilly but the racing was red hot as the Badger Midget Series and the Interstate Racing Association sprint cars took to the 1/3 mile oval. In the headline event for the IRA cars, the action got off to a rough start with Tommy Sexton flipping his 83D machine going into turn number one just after completing lap number 1. Sexton was ok but was obviously done for the night. On the restart, King was able to get a great jump and worked past Goeden. But following another yellow on lap 19, King coasted to the infield with a report of being out of gas giving the lead back to Goeden. Following a red flag incident on lap 25, Goeden went on to the win followed by Steve Meyer and Scotty Neitzel. Press Release (05-5-08)

Lowell Bennett would never brag about this, but it's true. He is the sort of racer who provides a connection to a simpler day a generation or two ago, before NASCAR and video games took over the world, when high school sweethearts would rather snuggle on the Slinger Speedway bleachers than spend the night sending texts and instant messages. He and men like him make up the backbone of short-track stock-car racing in southeastern Wisconsin. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (05-8-08)
1910 Sausage Company will be awarding a gift certificate award for the fast qualifier in the LLM division each night, similar to the LM award given out by Quizno's of Kaukauna. 1910 Sausage Company (05-8-08)

Chris Slack of Gandrud Chevrolet in Green Bay sees their involvement in area motor sports as a two-way street. The parts supplier and dealership inked a deal for title sponsorship of an eight-race stock car series at tracks in Wisconsin and Illinois this year. "I can't expect the racers to buy parts from us if we're not involved in (racing) sponsorship somehow," said Chris Slack, parts manager at Gandrud. "We would still sell parts if we weren't sponsoring the races, but we just help each other out." Green Bay Press Gazette (05-7-08)

The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment would not be successful without the help of our marketing partners and sponsors. Last Sunday’s ECHO Chainsaw 100 had 48 competitors on hand with a majority, again, taking home contingency bonus(s). In order to receive the awards, the driver must be a full ASA member and their teams must satisfy all manufacturers’ requirements (decals, patches and post race interview criteria.) The awards listed for each driver is on top of the event purse payout they received. Press Release (05-8-08)
Back in January, Dan Fredrickson made this statement, “Going into this season, if we get a good start and have a good time at what we are doing, we will make a run for the points.” After two events, its safe to say that he is on track as he holds a 62-point lead over Josh Vadnais after two events. Fredrickson picked up his fourth ASAMT win this past Sunday in the ECHO Chainsaw 100 at Madison International Speedway. This was a great follow-up to his second place finish at the opening event at Elko Speedway back in April. Press Release (05-7-08)
Big 8 Series Point Standings as of 5/5/2008 (05-5-08)
Dan Fredrickson will admit that he never had a good run at Madison International Speedway. After tonight, Madison is one of his favorite tracks as he captured the ASAMT ECHO Chainsaw 100 in front of a large crowd. “I haven’t won here and never been real good here, but had a pretty sweet car here tonight,” a happy Fredrickson stated in victory lane. “I hope we can keep going with this, it was cool to beat Carlson and Busch. And now Madison is one of my favorite tracks.” Press Release (05-5-08)
Jeremy Miller and Michael Bilderback got the large crowd on hand at Madison International Speedway on their feet as the two put on a classic short track battle in the Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet feature event. At the checkers, it was the defending champion holding off the young pilot. Bilderback led most of the 38-lap event, while Miller made a hard charge at the end. "I kinda used Mikey up there. He was pinching me on the bottom and I got a better run than him and he was slowing up, so I gave him a little nudge just to move him back where he belonged. It was a racing thing," Miller described his last lap move as the two came out of turn two. Press Release (05-5-08)
No matter if you are a fan or a competitor; you will need to walk up a hill to see it. Just like Richard Dreyfuss climbed up a hill to see Devil’s Tower in “Close Encounter of the Third Kind”, you climb up to see what you imagined it would look like. For many, that is how their first experience is when they come to Madison International Speedway the first time. It’s a short drive off of Hwy 138, down a country road to a piece of property that becomes a gathering place to see some of the best racing around. Press Release (05-2-08)
Several ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment teams took advantage of an open practice this past Saturday at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI. This was the only opportunity for the teams to test given the seven day no test rule, the rule that is enforced at the track hosting the upcoming ASAMT event. Defending Madison winner, Brandon Hill was on hand and was excited to be back, “I couldn’t wait to get back here, I wish we came more often,” Hill stated. “It’s always been a good place for me. I have only ran here two or three times and some pretty good runs, and last year, obviously, we ran real well. We need a good run." Press Release (04-29-08)
NASCAR Sprint Cup Aaron’s 499 winner, Kyle Busch, will be racing at Madison International Speedway next Sunday in the ECHO Chainsaw 100. This will be the second event of the 2008 season for the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment. Busch, who has to be one of the hottest drivers in all of racing, will be competing the night before in Richmond, VA and will travel to Madison to compete in the 100-lap event that he finished sixth in last year that was won by Brandon Hill. Press Release (04-29-08)
The Lane Automotive ASAMT Rookie of the Year presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil and Hyperco is off and running after the Kwik Trip 125 event at Elko Speedway. Six drivers have taken the green flag towards a Rookie of the Year title with a potential $10,000 in awards to be handed out at the end of the season. The first event of the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment showed how tough the competition can be as some of its Touring Stars failed to make the feature event. But, four of the six rookies in attendance were able to make the feature field just by qualifying in the top 16. Press Release (04-26-08)
ASAMT officials have just confirmed that one of the hottest drivers in all of racing will be at the next ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment event. Kyle Busch has entered the ECHO Chainsaw 100 event on Sunday, May 4th at Madison International Speedway. Last year, Kyle finished sixth in the event that was won by Brandon Hill. Busch also told officials that he will be competing at the ASAMT’s July 20th event at Iowa Speedway and the August 24th Wisconsin All-Star 100 with Matt Kenseth at The Milwaukee Mile. And will also defend his ASAMT win at Wisconsin International Raceway on Tuesday, August 5th. Press Release (04-24-08)
The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment would not be successful without the help of our marketing partners and sponsors. 26 of the 47 drivers who competed last weekend at the Kwik Trip 125 will also be receiving contingency bonuses from the event.
