The American Speed Association® Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings has been touring some of the greatest short tracks in the Midwest since its inception. Three exciting new tracks have been added to the 2012 schedule. The first will be on Saturday, June 2nd as teams head northeast to Berlin Raceway in Marne, MI for the Port City 100. This will not be the first time Berlin has hosted this type of event. Berlin Raceway was a regular on both the ARTGO and ASA Challenge Series' circuits years ago. In only four short weeks, the American Speed Association® Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings will head to Madison International Speedway for the 4th Annual Joe Shear Classic. The 2012 racing season officially gets underway on Sunday, May 6th with both the ASAMT and the MIS Late Models. It is hard to believe that this will be the fourth year of the event honoring the late short track legend. Officials of the ASA Midwest Tour and Rusty Wallace, Incorporated announced today that former NASCAR and ASA Champion, Rusty Wallace, will compete in the June 12th Howie Lettow Memorial 150 at The Milwaukee Mile. The race honors the late Lettow, a former standout ASA crew chief who mentored many young drivers. The event will benefit the MACC Fund, dedicated to childhood cancer and blood disorder research. Every Sunday when David Stremme straps into his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series machine at tracks across the country, fresh on his mind are lessons taught to him at a very young age by Howie Lettow. Stremme was a standout Late Model driver in his native Indiana as a youngster when Lettow selected him as his driver in the American Speed Association in 2001. Together, Lettow and Stremme earned two ASA wins and the 2002 ASA Rookie of the Year title. Howie Lettow was more than just a crew chief, he was a mentor to many drivers over the course of his life, many who went on to become some of racing's biggest stars. The American Speed Association® Midwest Tour honored three division Champions and Rookies of the Year, along with several special awards recipients this past Saturday night, February 4th at Ho Chunk Resort in Baraboo, WI. Two hundred sixty guests were in attendance to take part in the celebration. Andrew Morrissey was officially crowned the 2011 ASA Midwest Tour Champion. The ASA Midwest Tour is accepting applications for a full time Announcer for the 2012 racing season and beyond. Individuals that are interested in this position must have at least 2 years of announcing experience in the auto racing field or related sports venues. Applicants must be capable of producing a strong voice that is capable of entertaining thousands of race fans around the Midwest. Additional requirements include a basic knowledge in PR, Marketing, and Media along with exceptional writing skills are a plus.
