A lot of fans are upset at Wilmot after the 1st annual Al Winker memorial race. With all the rain in the area lately, the track wasn't in the best shape. Only the sprint and modified heats were completed and then the rest of the program Saturday night was cancelled. The hobby stocks didn't get to do their heat races. It's cool the track did the best they could to get the program completed. But not offering rain checks/refunds when it costs $13 admission ($20 for pits) is ridiculous. They might as well not opened the gates given the conditions. A 135 pound driver walked the track and sunk 4-5 inches it was that bad. They'll have more negative feedback now. Instead Wilmot shouldn't have opened the gates or scheduled it another week (but it's already late this year).Sunday's program was cancelled as well. I hear many racers and fans didn't appreciate how Wimot handled the situation. Many expressed that they WON'T race/attend Wilmot again. It wasn't intentional on Wilmot's part to have this happen, but in the end it's not right. You are potentially scaring away casual race fans from coming back. We'll see if the track can right itself by at least giving a partial fefund for Saturday. It just makes good business sense. You'll lose money yes but at least you'll have the respect of your most important asset your customers. Wilmot Speedway (10-07-02)

We understand that there is going to be alot in common between Shawano Speedway and Langlade (Antigo) County Raceway in 2003. Apparently most of the employees will work at both tracks, for example the scorers, corners works and such will all be the same at both tracks. (10-04-02)

Powercom Speedzone (08-28-02)

When the checkered flew at the Seymour Tri Oval it was the end of the 2002 points season. Drivers had there last chance at taking a feature win before the 02 season came to a close, some were able to accomplish that, others have seen victory lane before. 'The Mod Man' Jay Schraufnagel took the IMCA Modified feature win which brought his total features win of the season close to or over 20. New London's Terry Casey took the feature win in Wissota Late Model action, followed to the checkers by Pete Parker, Troy Springborn and Nick Anvelink. At the last FRRC meeting there was talk about running on Sunday Afternoons in May, there has been no decision made on this as of yet. We pointed out to the WIR and FRRC officials that this might not be the best idea as there are lots of High School and College Graduations on Sunday Afternoon's in May. (12-04-02)

There have been some suggestions made on the message board about improvements that need to be made to WIR and FRRC to improve the weekly show. There were some complaints about the pit parking, the scoreboard and the track lighting. We understand that all 3 of these are being looked into and hope to be taken care of before the 2003 season. Attention Fox River Racing Club owners, drivers, crew members and fans: We are going to try our hardest to make the 03 season the best it can possibly be. At the meeting Monday evening there were alot of great ideas that were passed around. We have opened up our forum and have a top called "FRRC Suggestions" any ideas you may have feel free to post them. We have track officials and club officers who view this web site and they will read your ideas. You do not have to leave a name, just keep your comments to that in which respects the Fox River Racing Club. (11-19-02)

Just returned from the Fox River Racing Club meeting, the hot topic was whether to vote the club out or to keep them. After much discussion a ballot vote was taken and the club was voted to keep going as they are. So the Fox River Racing Club will be back for the 2003 season. Voting for officers was next on the schedule, Scott Vanderloop won the Vice President position over Mike Bunnel. There was only 1 person running for treasuer and that was Cheryl Schnieder, after voting had taken place for vice president, both new officers were going to be sworn in. Scott Vanderloop was unable to make the meeting and as Cheryl Schnieder was going to be sworn in, she stated she did not want to be treasuer. The club is now looking for a treasuer, there were thoughts brought up about looking for a professional, this has been tabled until the next meeting. Rules were handed out and it was stated that Midwest Allstar Series (MARS) will run the same rules as WIR has imposed. It was also brought to everyone's attention that more than likely the races in May will be Sunday Afternoon shows, this is not for sure, but more than likely to happen. One last thing there were so many people at the meeting this evening that there was standing room only! It would be nice if we had this many people at EVERY meeting, there was alot of great comments and ideas brought up. We need you people to show up at EVERY meeting so we can accomplish lots more!!! As always stay tuned to wirphotos.net as we always have the inside scoop on FRRC and WIR. (11-18-02)

They also plan to race in some Sunoco Super Series races and when schedule allows they will run weekly at WIR and Madison. The team will start their season out by running in Speed weeks at New Smyrna Speedway in February. RDM Racing (11-17-02)

It is our understanding that the main tire that WIR will allow you to run is Hoosier tires, these tires will be sold at the track. You are allowed to run Good Year and American Racer tires. This will allow for teams that race at a track with Good Year tires to come to WIR and run without searching for two used Hoosiers. Just another thing that WIR is doing to raise the car counts. (11-13-02)

Fox River Racing Club has released there 2003 rules, the rules are pretty close to the tracks of central Wisconsin. WIR has there rules done almost a week ago and we saw them at that time, the tracks of central Wisconsin had a meeting on these rules last Wednesday. The tracks in central Wisconsin have made there rules pretty close to WIR's. You can view the rules at Fox River Racing Club's website. There is a meeting taking place this evening to discuss and decide the rules for Dells Motor Speedway, Golden Sands Speedway and Marshfield Speedway. These tracks were the ones for the 2 barrel carb and were leading the charge for it, but then suddenly took a "wait and see" approach. Now that WIR has made their rules it is expected that these tracks will follow suit. (11-06-02) UPDATE: The rules for these tracks were released by the owner of Dells Motor Speedway, they are allowing you to run any carb, there is a different weight depending on if you are running an ace, 9-1 or concept and depending on what carb you run. Looks like all the talk about the 2 barrel by these tracks have went by the way side. (11-07-02)

Just returned from Fox River Racing Club's meeting this evening, the following are notes from the meeting. There was nominations for the treasurer and vice president positions, Scott Vanderloop, Mike Bunnel and Marty Nussbaum were all nominated for vice president. Cheryl Schnieder was nominated at the last meeting for treasurer. There was a motion made to DISBAND the club, the motion was seconded and a vote will take place at the next meeting. This will be a club membership only vote, you must have your card to vote. Roger, track owner, was asked if he would be willing to take over the weekly show if the club is disbanded, Roger stated he would take it over. Rules were brought up about late models, some wanted the two barrel others did not. It was brought to everyone's attention that a 2 barrel carb will most likely be here in 3 years. Many felt they might as well go with the 2 barrel right now instead of waiting. There was a vote taking by 18 late model teams that were represented and the vote was 11-7 in FAVOR of the 2 barrel. Representatives from Dells Motor Speedway and Golden Sands were on hand and both said they have NOT decided if they will go to the 2 barrel or not yet. They did say they were leaning toward the 2 barrel. The next meeting will be in 2 weeks on November 18th, the rules are said to be ready at this time. We will most likely attend the next meeting and will report on what happened. (10-28-02)

Read on Norway Speedway's website that a possible rules change for the super late models, if you run the hutchen's device you could receive a possible weight break. (10-24-02)

Hearing that Mike Reichenberger will be driving for himself at WIR in 2003. The team that he drove for this year is looking for a new driver to take over the seat. Earlier reports were that Jim Duchow would be driving the car since he has run some specials with the car. All is well with the Jim Duchow and Lamers Motor Racing bunch and they will be back togethor in 2003. There are really no names thave have come up as possible drivers for the #1 Late Model ride. For more information such as this check out our 2003 FRRC Drivers Plans Page. (09-17-02) Hearing there is alot going on with this team, not alot is being said, we will try to find out what we can. If anyone within the team or knows what is going on, if you could please email us about this.(09-20-02) UPDATE: We are again bringing this topic back up as we know there is something going on with this team and driver. Anyone with info that would be willing to shed some light on this please email me. Thanks (10-21-02)

We are again hearing that Mike Gardner and Six Crew Racing have split up, we heard about this once before and were told nothing had happened yet. Being told that if this does happen that the Mike Gardner team won't be back at WIR weekly in 03. We will wait to hear something from the team about this. (09-21-02) We still haven't heard whether anything has happened or not, apparently Six Crew Racing may have been looking for a new driver? (10-05-02) We have heard many things about what is actually happening or going to happen. From the information I have received it really depends on who you talk to. We will listen for more information, but will wait for official word from the team. (10-21-02)

The following is information we have been given from the FRRC banquet. We have learned that Don Dix has sold everything off to Bob Menor, a past champion at Norway Speedway. Unclear whether Bob will run weekly at Norway or not at this time. Bob Danes who ran weekly at WIR as a limited late model, has purchased the championship winning car from Mike Butz. Tom Spierowski is apparently going to be behind the wheel of a car previously owned by Pete Berken, unclear who owns the car or what division they will run with. (10-21-02)

The FRRC banquet was held this evening at the Darboy Club. We have received some information from the banquet via cellphone. Apparently it looks like the Fox River Racing Club will NOT be going with a 2 barrel for 03 season. At first thought the club was looking at a 2 barrel to even out the cost. It will cost teams alot of money if they have to buy new carbs. As of right now from what we have learned everyone wants to keep it how it was for the 02 season except the FRRC president. Apparently there is someone that is trying to get all the central Wisconsin cars to make the switch to the two barrels. It does sound like the American Racer Tires might be a for sure thing. Should be an interesting meeting coming up. (10-18-02)

Are area race tracks actually talking to each other to control cost and have similar rules? It seems to be the case as many tracks are waiting for feedback from other tracks before they make there rules. So far WIR and Madison are making rules changes as far as engines to control cost. (09-28-02)

The Vice President and treasuer positions are up for re election for the 2003 season, both individuals that currently hold the positions are not reapplying. The carb rules were brought up about possibly going to a 2 barrel carb. No decisions will be made until feedback is gotten from upcoming meetings between Golden Sands, Dells Motor Speedway, Marshfield and Madison. It was also mentioned that the payout scale could be raised with help from Roger if the drivers go with the 2 barrel carb and 2 tire rule. Figures of paying that were mentioned were $1,100 to win and $300 to start the feature. (09-25-02)

If anyone within the team or knows what is going on, if you could please email us about this.(09-20-02)

It appears that the things we have been hearing for the last couple of weeks are becoming true. It all started when there was no entry list released for the big event at Dells Motor Speedway after the track owner stated he would release one by September 6th. There have been alot of names tossed around, now it sounds like alot of these teams will not be there. Heard some guys from Florida were going to come up for the event, but we have checked with sources in Florida and these drivers have events planned for that weekend already. There was rumored to be 150 cars entered, now remember just because a driver files an entry for a race DOES NOT mean they have to run the event. (09-20-02)

There was a test this evening at Wisconsin International Raceway, the test was for tires and carbs. Drivers that were involved in the test were Mark Schroeder driving Red Adairs car, Brad Mueller, Greg Haese, Jim Duchow. These 4 drivers had different engines; Mark Schroeder had a full blown ACE motor, Brad Mueller had a Aluminum headed motor, Greg Haese had a Iron Concept rooler, Jim Duchow had the Ford Iron Concept. These teams tested different combinations like the following: 2 barrel with hoosiers, 4 barrel with hoosiers, 2 barrel with American Racer tires, 4 barrell with American racer tires. And all the above were done with more weight added to the aluminum motors. By looking at the times it looks like the 2 barrel and American Racer tires are the way to go. Teams mentioned the car handeled better with the 2 barrel. Brad Mueller ran a total of 52 laps on the American Racer tires, these were run in 3 different sessions. The tires went through 3 different heat cycles and his last lap of the 52 run was a 19.777. (09-17-02) Eiether way it does look like the 2 tire rule for Late Models and 1 tire rule for Limited Late Models will be in place for 03 season. Locking the tires up until the next week is also a great possibility. (09-18-02)

The engine is suppose to cost around $5,500 dollars. We heard that the Limited Late model guys liked this idea and many are for it. (09-08-02)

Hearing there might be a "series" developed between Wisconsin International Raceway and Norway Speedway for the 2003 season. We know there are cars from WIR that go to Norway weekly. That would explain why they were at the track a couple weeks back. Maybe Norway wants some of there guys to head down to WIR weekly and give it a try. We use to get some Norway cars a couple years back that ran weekly, but that has since stopped. Of course we have Jamie Iverson, Mike Gardner and Kris Kelly that race with us at WIR. (09-06-02)
