A rumor has surfaced that the IRA sprint portion of the July 5th race at Shawano Speedway has been cancelled. We will confirm this when hear more about the situation. (06-21-03) UPDATE: We are told IRA will not be part of this show, it will become a regular program (06-22-03) UPDATE: "What was a very successful annual event has fallen by the wayside," stated IRA President and Try-R Promotions partner Steve Sinclair. The July 5th scheduled 6th annual Night of Thunder featuring the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints, Wissota Late Models, and IMCA Modifieds has been cancelled. The IRA Outlaw sprinters will not be appearing at Shawano Speedway in 2003. "It's very disturbing to me", added Sinclair, "they (the Shawano Fair management) just changed the whole contract on us. They restructured things making it virtually impossible to succeed from a Try-R Promotions perspective. The Fair has always made money on this event as it was absolutely risk free to them, they received all concession revenues plus rent, and bonus dollars based on attendance. I shouldn't be surprised, it seems this relationship has been adversarial on their part despite the money the fair has earned on our events over the years." Press Release (06-24-03)

After Madsen's pass, Reinke was unable to mount a challenge for the top spot and ultimately settled for the runner up spot.
