Cedar Lake Speedway, New Richmond, WI, has annouced though their web site (cedarlakespeedway.com) that they have filed a formal complaint in Minnesota Court against the WISSOTA Promoters Association. The web site statement: "On Monday, October 23rd, Cedar Lake Speedway commenced litigation against the Wissota Promoters Association. For those who are close to the situation, you will know why this is taking place. For those more removed, we want you to know that this is necessary because, among other things, Wissota has violated its legal responsibilities with Cedar Lake Speedway." Monday Motorsports has released their 2007 schedule on their website @ www.andymonday.com under the schedule link. The schedule includes every circle track event at Wisconsin International Raceway which involves 15 Thursday night Fox River Racing Club Events, The 3 Race Red, White & Blue Series, and the return of the Dixieland event brought forth by the ASA Midwest Tour. We will also be competing again the 11 race Wisconsin Challenge Series throughout Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. (12-6-06)
Three weekly divisions will be featured in 2007 at Madison International Speedway when the season opens next April. General Manager Dave Grueneberg announced today that the Madison Late Models, Limited Late Models, and Bandits will comprise the three divisions that will be on the schedule each week. At this point the schedule for the 2007 season is still being finalized, but Grueneberg was quick to point out that fans would be seeing more super late model racing in 2007. “We are planning to have five or six super late model events in 2007. The Off-season teardown process has begun on the Monday Motorsports Lefthander Chassis. We are working to have the car ready to bring down the Lefthander for an updated front clip and new bolt-on tail section later this month. We are also working to secure sponsorship for the 2007 racing season. Our plans include racing all Wisconsin Int'l Raceway events in search for the season championship and also racing all Wisconsin Challenge Series events in hope for a solid Top 5 Points Finish. After competing on local dirt tracks for much of the 2006 season, BreweCrew Motor Sports plans to move back to the pavement in 2007. While there were some real advantages of competing locally, there is little doubt that the team is built around competing on paved ovals. With our location to the Twin Cities Metro Area, it would make the most sense for us to compete at Elko Speedway and run a handful of other touring type races. We currently have equipment to field a Super Late Model and/or a Mid-American style car. With this being said, most of the team is wanting to compete with the Mid-American Stockcar in 2007. Steve Einhaus has left his employment at Madison International Speedway to start an exciting new venture. Steve along with Tim Olson of I-94 Speedway in Minnesota have joined forces to start a new racing series called the ASA Midwest Tour. When John McKarns, Jody Deery and Richard Schomburg signed an agreement Tuesday night, it assured that short-track racing — at least in the form that area fans have come to expect — will continue through the 2026 season at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. LaCrosse Tribune (11-9-06)
Urban Force Racing, the brainchild of ABC Supply owner and CEO Ken Hendricks, has Announced the selections of their Driver and the first team members for the fledgling ASA race team, set to begin competing in 2007 at the Madison International Speedway and other selected venues throughout the Midwest. Short-track racing legend Dick Trickle will receive the Bobby Isaac Memorial Award during pre-race ceremonies for the Dollar General 300 NASCAR Busch Series race Friday night, Oct. 13, at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. The Bobby Isaac Memorial Award is presented annually by Lowe’s Motor Speedway to an individual or group in recognition of outstanding contribution to short-track racing. Jayski (09-25-06)
Josh (Bauer) plans to run the full season at Slinger Super Speedway next year, and he also hopes to join the Hooters Pro Cup series. “I like racing at Slinger,” says Bauer, “But I would love to travel and race at a lot of different tracks.” Look for Bauer to continue his march towards rookie of the year honors at Slinger as well as strong finishes at all the tracks he races at. Tom Gee Motorsports and Patriot Mortgage Services of Green Bay have parted ways for the 2006 season. The team is actively searching for primary sponsorship. The team's plans for the 2006 Season are currently up in the air pending sponsorships. (04-26-06) UPDATE: Tom Gee Motorsports informs us that they have secured primary sponsorship from MCL Industries of Pulaski for the 2006 racing season. Midnite Motorsports with Marty Nussbaum Racing will be teaming up with Brent Strelka for the 2006 season. The team will run at events at Wisconsin International Raceway along with some specials and some ASA Late Model shows. The car will be easy to see on the track as it will sport a bright green color. Mark Schroeder and crew will be back at Wisconsin International Raceway for all events in 2006. The team will continue to fly the Miller Lite sponsorship along with some new associate sponsors. Two Lefthander Chassis with ABC Monte Carlo bodies will be at the teams disposal. In addition Mark will drive for Bay Motorsports in the ASA Late Model Challenge Series races. If time allows Mark would like to run some races at Norway and area special events. Mark is looking forward to the 2006 season driving both for himself and Bay Motorsports! The American Speed Association Midwest Tour is elated to announce the signing of 29-year-old Josh Vadnais of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, as a registered contender for the 2007 championship season. "Everyone always talks about the glory days of short track racing when ASA and ARTGO were part of all the premier events in the Midwest. Haas CNC Racing has signed Blake Bjorklund to pilot the MRD Motorsports Truck Series entry [ran the #06 with Chad McCumbee in 2006] for the first 12 races in 2007. This will be the first foray into the Craftsman Truck Series for Haas Racing as they partner with MRD Motorsports to develop drivers. With the departure of Mark Martin, Roush Racing was presented with the question of who would fill his shoes in the #6 Roush Racing Ford in the Craftsman Truck Series. That question was answered this week when Roush signed former Truck Series champion Travis Kvapil to pilot the Ford that Martin drove to five victories in 13 attempts this season. Jayski (11-15-06)
The ASA Midwest Tour is quickly taking shape as the rules for the all new Late Model series have been released. Upper Midwest Late Model drivers will notice that the ASA Midwest Tour rules incorporate many of the same specifications that already exist at the majority of tracks throughout Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin, where the ASA Midwest Tour plans to conduct races in 2007. Looking forward to the 2007 season, the Strasburgs are not prepared to rest on their laurels after a successful 2006. Doug and Julie have found opportunity to improve in the marketing department. “I would like to take these guys (Mid-American teams) to the next level,” said Doug. Realizing that marketing the Series alone could be a daunting task. Expansion may be a key word for the 2006 off-season for the Mid-American Stock Car Series. During the 2006 season only two non-GM motors competed in the Series. “We’re not looking to change much,” said Doug. “The basic motor rule is going to stay the same, however we would like to encourage the crate motors to run with us. Eddie Hoffman could be one heck of a bus driver, because he has been taking drivers to school at Music City Motorplex in Nashville recently. The veteran racer won his third Nashville Guitar by winning the ASA Late Model 200-lap portion of the All American 400 weekend on Sunday afternoon by taking the lead from 20-year-old Californian Derek Thorn on lap 173 and cruised to his second-straight Music City victory. What has happened to him in the last few months? He won the Midwest Series race at Colorado National Speedway. He made his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut. He finished second at The Milwaukee Mile in the ARCA Series in only his second-career start. He finished second at Oktoberfest. He won the final NASCAR Midwest Series Championship.
