Dirt Racing
On the surface it would appear that Algoma's Eddie "The Eagle" Anschutz might be able to sail through his title defense in the IMCA hobby stock class at Luxemburg Speedway when the gates swing open at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds Friday night, April 20. Past heavy hobby stock hitters Tom Brumlic, Duane Mertens and Adam White are moving into the track's new IMCA northern sportmod class. And, with former champion Keith Kickbush currently not planning on running Luxemburg on a weekly basis Anschutz, the defending state champion could have an easier time than normal with his title defense. When Luxemburg Speedway's newest weekly division rolls onto the third-mile, clay oval for the season opener on April 20 a very diverse bunch of drivers will emerge. Among the contestants signed up for IMCA's newest entry level, open-wheeled class are former modified and stock car drivers, along with drivers with backgrounds in street stocks, hobby stocks, four cylinders and flat out pure rookies who've never before climbed behind the wheel. NEW Dirt, Inc. Board of Directors is pleased to announce a new Late Model Class for 2007. The board feels that this new class will provide opportunities for more drivers to race at Seymour and create exciting late model racing for the fans. This new class was created after many hours of deliberation and gathering input from drivers. This will be a blended class of late models. Cars from Fastrak, DTRA, WDLMA, WISSOTA, UMP and Shawano Limited Late Model will be allowed to run together each week at Seymour Speedway. Press Release (02-15-07)

LP Motorsports, owner of Jessie Gracyalny Van Roy's Limited Late Model, will step into the Late Model division in 2007. Keith Romenesko will be the pilot of LP Motorsports Late Model which will sport the #8. (02-27-07)

On Friday afternoon, February 9, 2007 the Wisconsin racing community was finally able to breathe a long sigh of relief as Lance Fielitz, Joe Graziano, and Frank Kreyer completed their purchase of the former Dells Motor Speedway. For the trio of racing enthusiasts their purchase of the track was a stressful and drawn out process that began when the Gulf Coast Bank and Trust Company finally finished a nearly three-year long legal battle to foreclose on the track's defaulted mortgage. Brad (Dahmer) is in his seventh season in the Super Late Model division. He will compete at, Milwaukee Mile, WIR, Plover, Dells, Slinger, and Madison in the 07 season. Along with Brad, Kelsey Bauer will drive a Super Late Model in the 07 season. Kelsey is a championship winning go kart racer with several years of karting experience. It was reported on the Todd and Eddie show that Porta John is taking a step back to reorganize their company. The company who sponsored the 27 cars at Slinger Super Speedway in 2006 is taking a year off from sponsoring. (02-5-07)
We are pleased to announce the formation of a new team competing in the Late Model Division at Wisconsin International Raceway with John Meidam as the driver. The team is new but the faces are not. The team name is Sweere/Northland Racing. The Sweere is Rick & Melanie Sweere. The car will still be draped in red as it will proudly display Budweiser as the title sponsor. Internationally acclaimed Midget Driving Star, Michael Pickens from Birkenhead, Auckland, New Zealand, will pair with the new Urban Force Racing Team out of Beloit Memorial High School in Wisconsin for the 2007 ASA Midwest Tour.

2006 NASCAR Midwest Series Champion and 2006 Toyota All- Star Showdown Champion Tim Schendel announced his intentions to compete in the 2007 Busch East Series. Schendel is slated to run the full thirteen race schedule this season, a long with a NASCAR West Series race, possibly two ARCA races as well as two to four Super Late Model races. Unfortunately, just two weeks after the Mid-American Stock Car Series banquet, series co-owner Doug Strasburg received some disappointing news from the sanctioning body overseeing the June weekend. Strasburg was informed of additional, previously undisclosed fees imposed by the sanctioning body for the Mid-American field. The fee would end up costing each team over $250 in addition to the regular entry and pit fees for the race weekend. "After much discussion and batting around ideas to make it work, we (Road America and myself) concluded there just wasn't a viable option but to pull the June date," said Strasburg. With the 2007 season fast approaching, FM Kreyer Racing has released their tentative racing schedule for their No. 99 Culver's Ford Fusion. The team expects to run 26 to 28 races in 2007. FM Kreyer Racing plans to race the full Wisconsin Challenge Series (WCS) schedule in 2007, along with making several select appearances in the newly formed ASA Midwest Touring Series. In addition to planning a return to the Slinger Nationals, the team will again host its annual Culver's Night Late-Model Special at the Madison International Speedway. The Culver's team plans to race in the ASA Midwest Tour events scheduled for the Dells Raceway Park, La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway, and the Wisconsin International Speedway. The 2006 ASA Late Model Series Championship team, Waltom Racing was reportedly put up for sale. It was reported on the Todd and Eddie Show that Howie Lettow (Crew Chief) will be on their show next week to announce the new owner of the team. Kenny Richards (Montello, WI), Dan Fredrickson (Elko, MN), Nathan Haseleu (Pardeeville, WI), Rod Wheeler (Hortonville, WI), Josh Vadnais (White Bear Lake, MN), Brad “JJ” Mueller (Random Lake, WI), Dave Feiler (Sun Prairie, WI), Donny Reuvers (Dundas, MN), Adam Royle (Farmington, MN), Steve Carlson (West Salem, WI), Travis Sauter (Sauk City, WI), and Jamie Iverson (Escanaba, MI) are the Kwik Trip Touring Stars for the inaugural 2007 season. Larry Foyt has been named the official spokesman of the American Speed Association Educational Series. The new series, set to begin racing in the spring, pairs race teams and participating high schools together.
