Charter Raceway Park Point Standings as of July 28th, 2007 (07-30-07)

Dave Schoenberger of Beaver Dam drove to victory in the 20-lap Johnsonville Brats Modifieds A-Main on Saturday night at Charter Raceway Park on Andy’s Roofing Night at the Races/WXRO, Rechek’s Food Pride, Waupun Truck-n-Show Night. Press Release (07-29-07)

Benji LaCrosse dominated the IMCA Modified feature event to win his fourth feature of the season at Thunderhill. 96 cars entered the pits including 23 IMCA Modifieds, 22 IMCA Stockars, 14 IMCA Hobby Stocks, 14 4 Cylinders, 13 Street Stocks, 6 IMCA Northern Sportmods, and 4 Bombers. Leroy Ostrowski of Milwaukee and Brian Portschy of Oostburg started on the front row of the 25 lap A-main feature race for the Sprint cars. Portschy took a commanding lead after a handful of laps, which was gradually be erased by Wayne Modjeski, who is racing in Kurt Davis's No. 6k this weekend as Kurt was injured in car accident Saturday morning. Points leader Jared Siefert of Green Bay passed Shawn Kilgore of Kewaunee for the lead on the last lap to capture his sixth, 25 lap IMCA modified feature at Luxemburg Speedway Friday night. A total of 110 cars were in attendance including 26 IMCA modifieds, 31 IMCA stock cars, 18 IMCA hobby stocks, 13 northern sportmods and 22 sport fours. Press Release (07-28-07)

Kaukauna veteran Pete Parker received a 30-day suspension from WISSOTA late-model racing and was fined $1,000 for a post-race incident after the races at Shawano Speedway on Saturday. According to race director Dale Hodkiewicz, Parker left the track before the engine in his late model was to be torn down. This, after a track official was going to inspect Parker's motor after a check of Parker's and Nick Anvelink's powerplants were shown to be too big. Green Bay Press Gazette (07-27-07)

The O'Reilly Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw 410 Sprint Series travels north this weekend to a pair of tracks hosting their inaugural IRA events. On Saturday July 28th, IRA takes to the high speed Arlington Raceway located southwest of Minnesota's twin cities.  The IMCA Sprints will be a support class to the IRAs' 410's giving fans a double dose of sprint car action. This Saturday Night July 28th, Santa Clause will be bringing the racing action to the Forest County Potawatomi Thunderhill Raceway.  The races are sponsored by Sonny's Pizzeria and May's Sport Center. The largest crowd in Hancock County Speedway history witnessed an outstanding night night of O'Reilly Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series racing as Donny Goeden and Scotty Neitzel put on a race long duel, swapping the lead as they threaded lapped traffic on the fast 4/10 black dirt. Frank Paul won a wild IMCA Hobby Stock Feature to claim his first career feature win. 24 IMCA Stockcars, 20 IMCA Modifieds, 17 4 Cylinders, 14 Street Stocks, 13 IMCA Hobby Stocks, 8 IMCA Northern Sportmods, and 4 Bombers were on hand for The Bull Pen Bar and Grill Night. Press Release (07-22-07)

The grandstands were packed this Saturday night at Plymouth Dirt Track for the Hales Corners reunion night which featured 120 cars in the four weekly racing divisions. The Late Model division was first in the rotation and had a 40 lap A-main, following the Late Models were the Sprints, then the Grand Nationals, and lastly the Outlaw Compacts. Tim Lemirande of Verona drove his fifth win of the season in the 20-lap Johnsonville Brats Modifieds A-Main on Thrivent Financial/Taco Bell Night at Charter Raceway Park on Saturday night. Roger Lee of Wind Lake scored his fifth win of the season in the 20-lap The Mortgage Guys Grand Nationals A-Main. Press Release (07-22-07)

Charlie Kroll looked great not just once.. BUT TWICE.  Charlie Kroll cashed in on both the IMCA Stockcar Feature and the IMCA Northern Sportmod Feature. 91 cars were on hand including 26 IMCA Stockcars, 25 IMCA Modifieds, 14 Hobby Stocks, 13 IMCA Northern Sport Mods, and 13 4 Cylinders. The O'Reilly Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series visits three tracks in three states this weekend, July 20-22.. The 410 winged series kicks off the weekend on Friday as they headline thev Hancock (IA) Fair in Britt. Then Saturday is just east down I-90 to Spring Valley, MN and the high-banked Deer Creek Speedway. Then Sunday's finale takes the tour to southwest Wisconsin and the IRA's first ever show at the LaFayette County Speedway in Darlington. Press Release (07-17-07)

Bonduel's Nick Anvelink passed Shawano's Tom Naeyaert for the lead on lap 24 and skillfully weaved through lapped cars to win the caution free, 40 lap Seubert Calf Ranches late model special at Luxemburg Speedway on Sunday. A total of 91 cars were in the pits, including 18 late models, 30 IMCA modifieds, 24 stock cars and 19 northern sportmods. Press Release (07-16-07)

Scott Young claimed his first Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series victory of the season by claiming Charter Raceway Park's Duel At The Dam. Young led flag to flag in the thirty lap contest aboard his family J&J Gaerte no.3. Press Release (07-16-07)

Cooler temperatures came, but the racing action heated up the air this past Saturday night at the Sheboygan County Fair Park for Plymouth Dirt Track Racing.  116 cars took the green flag on Cornwell Tools Night, and first in the rotation was the Grand National division. Lap traffic at the white flag bottled Mueller up on the high side as Lubach and Sauter were charging.  Mueller would go on to win by a car length over Lubach.  Sauter finished third followed by Luke Scholten and Brad Dahmer. Dave Zeitler put all of the superstitions to rest as he picked up his first feature win of the season in the IMCA Modifieds. A Total of 125 cars entered the pits including 37 IMCA Stockcars, 31 IMCA Modifieds, 24 4 Cylinders, 18 IMCA Hobby Stocks, and 15 Fastrak Late Models. While M.J. McBride can't claim perfect attendance at Shawano Speedway during his career, his dedication to the Saturday night program has gone unmatched. The WISSOTA late model driver, who began racing at the ½-mile clay oval in 1966, has missed just one show in his 41-year career. That's just one race out of roughly 660. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series team up with the Badger Midgets as the two sanctions co-headline Duel At The Dam, Part 2 this Saturday night, July 14th, at Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Press Release (07-12-07)

Chad Blonde made the tow from Michigan payoff as he captured the thirty lap Bumper to Bumper IRA/ASA Outlaw Sprints headliner at the Wilmot Speedway. It was Blonde's first IRA appearance of 2007 and his first career series victory. While Blonde captured the night's race, Donny Goeden was crowned King Of Wisconsin for garnering the most points of the three IRA appearances at Wilmot this year to date. Press Release (07-9-07)

On the week of celebrating our nation's independence, Plymouth Dirt Track Racing celebrated America with a Mid Season Championship night of racing. Sprint car heat races started 42 cars in five events, and each heat race turned out to be just as exciting as the next. TJ Luedke, Tim Melis, Tony Wondra, Doug Wondra, and Troy Wondra would all visit victory lane. Press Release (07-8-07)

Todd Dart passed James Tebon in the closing laps, en route to his second IMCA Modified feature win of the season Saturday night at the Potawatomi Thunderhill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay. In other action, Dave Bouche escaped a wild melee on the third lap to win his first IMCA Stock Car feature of the year.  Feature trophies also went to Dave DeGrave in the IMCA Hobby Stocks, Scott Reinhardt in the Street Stocks, Charlie Kroll in the IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Jeremy DuBois in the 4 Cylinders and John Mahlberg in the Thunderbombs. Tim Lemirande of Verona drove to victory in the 20-lap Johnsonville Brats Modifieds A-Main on Charter Communications & Absolute Financial Night at Charter Raceway Park on Saturday night. In the exciting 20-lap Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends/Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series A-Main, Brad Weber of Rolling Prairie earned the trip to victory lane after first dueling it out with Joel Wyttenbach of Sauk City and then dicing back and forth with Eric Barth of Sauk City. Denmark's RM Van Pay crossed the finish line first in the caution-plauged, time-shortened 19 lap IMCA modified feature at Luxemburg Speedway Friday night. However his machine was found to be light at the scales following the race, disqualifying him and handing the win to second place Jared Siefert. Press Release (07-8-07)

With rain falling and severe weather approaching, the High Speed Holiday Series event (at Charter Raceway Park) featuring the MSA Sprints, The Mortgage Guys Grand Nationals and the Wisconsin-Illinois Mini-Sprints was canceled following the first sprint car heat. Three Grand National heat races were run prior to the rain with wins going to Roger Lee of Wind Lake, Brad Mueller and Don Sorce Jr. of West Allis. Press Release (07-3-07)

Donny Goeden continued his outstanding season by capturing his series leading fifth Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints main event by winning the thirty lap headliner in front of a great Sheboygan County Fair Park crowd. Goeden a many time Super Modified track champion at the facility before moving into the traveling sprint car ranks made it a homecoming of sorts as the win proved to be a popular one with the fans. Goeden piloted the Bob Walldan 50th Year in Motorsports Anniversary Maxim to the win. Press Release (07-2-07)

Mike Reinke picked up his first Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints win of the season by capturing the 25 lap headliner at the Kankakee Motor Speedway. The fast highbabked speedbowl fit Reinke's rim-riding style perfectly as the SCA Maxim was spectacular. Reinke's win combined with numerous runnerup finishes this season put him on top of the IRA season point standings. Press Release (07-2-07)

The IRA outlaw sprint cars series was featured the weekend at Plymouth Dirt Track, running races with the IRA series were the Grand Nationals, Late Models, and Outlaw Compacts. Brian Goetsch won the first of three heats in the division, with Brad Dahmer following him to the line to finish second. Brad Mueller of Random Lake won the second heat over fellow Random Lake driver Jeremy Sauter. While in the third and final heat, Tony Miller, also from Random Lake, picked up the checkers over Dean Horneck of Kiel. Press Release (07-1-07)

Eddie Lemay Jr. of Milwaukee captured his first win of the season in the 20-lap Johnsonville Brats Modifieds A-Main on Firari Family Night at Charter Raceway Park on Saturday night. Brad Weber of Rolling Prairie moved up quickly from the fourth row to take over the lead from George Giesen of Neenah on lap four of the 20-lap Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends/Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series A-Main. Despite losing his power steering early in the event, Lowell Bennett bested Dale Prunty to win the Professional Plumbing Contractors 75-lap late model feature Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway. “I got about halfway through and I radioed the guys that we lost power steering,” an exhausted Bennett told the crowd from Victory Lane. “I really had to manhandle it tonight.” Press Release (07-30-07)

This weeks Old Wisconsin Hot Dog Winner is Limited Late Model driver Jon Reynolds Jr.   Jon nearly destroyed his car July 15th, rebuilt it during the week, and came back out July 22nd to set quick time, and win the Limited Late Model Feature!   Congratulations to Jon Reynolds Jr. for earning The Old Wisconsin Hot Dog of the Race Award. In talking with Terry Baldry's car owner Saturday Night at the White race he tells me the team has changed their plans for the rest of the season. The teams originatel season plans were to run a part time schedule of Thursday Night shows at WIR. As of July 12th the team won't return for Thursday Night shows this year and a good chance they won't return next season. (07-23-07)

Michigan’s Jamie Iverson told of his 18-year old son probably joining the racing family next year to become the third generation of racers, as we recounted the barnstorming years when his father raced. Racing Wisconsin (07-23-07)

Bickle had earlier told me of planning to retire the car he built in 1992 after running it at Slinger and having a cylinder fail right away. Josh Bauer drove to his first victory of the season, leading flag to flag in the Ritter Parker Store 75-lap late model feature Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway. “This was a long time coming,” an excited Bauer stated from Victory Lane. “It’s almost a year to the date to the last feature win and the way we’ve been struggling this year, this just feels good.” Press Release (07-23-07)

July 15th Old Wisconsin Hot Dog Co-Winners are Limited Late Model driver Jerry Eckhardt and Late Model driver Al Schill.  It was a special night at Slinger Speedway as we celebrated our 60th Year of racing at the legendary facility. NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Kyle Busch did not disappoint as he started the evening nearly eclipsing the Wisconsin International Raceway record, when he turned a qualifying lap of 19.267 seconds. Busch later put on a show for the fans, coming from deep in the field and surviving several late race restarts to take the late model super feature victory over defending Fox River Racing Club champion Tim Rothe. Jim Duchow mention in an interview during pre race activities last night at WIR that he will be missing a night in a couple weeks. He will be racing at Bristol Motor Speedway. (07-20-07)

Wisconsin Sport Truck driver Kyle Quella tells us they have purchased a Late Model from Six Crew Racing. The team plans to run some select races at the end of the season. Kyle said they had talked about running at Plover to get use to the car, but his father also mentioned running a race at WIR this year yet. (07-20-07)

As Lowell Bennett sat perched on the window ledge of his race car, taking in the fireworks show after the conclusion of the 28th Miller Lite Nationals and had just one question. "Who's got the most?" asked Bennett, playing coy. After a sparkling Tuesday night in which he'd climbed from 18th to first in 80 laps around the tricky Slinger Speedway, Bennett had just won his fourth to match Dick Trickle and the late Joe Shear. Lowell Bennett survived a wild Miller Lite Nationals Tuesday night at the Slinger Super Speedway capturing his fourth victory in the 250-lap late model special to join legendary racers Dick Trickle and Joe Shear as the only three drivers to accomplish the feat. It’s an honor to included in that crowd (with Trickle and Shear),” an extremely happy Bennett stated from Victory Lane after leading 171 laps en route to a 4.8 second victory over Jeremy Lepak and Brad Mueller. “It doesn’t get much better and it was an awesome night.” Press Release (07-18-07)

Kris Kelly may be classified as a limited late model driver this year, but that's in name only. With four feature wins in the first six races, Kelly is well on his way to winning the Fox River Racing Club's championship at Wisconsin International Raceway. A two-time former late model track champion at Norway Speedway, Kelly is winning everything in sight at WIR in a refurbished old car build by his father, Mike. The white, No. 1 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo sits on top of a 1996 Port City Chassis and is powered by a Motor Master engine. Appleton Post Crescent (07-16-07)

NASCAR drivers Kyle Busch, Erik Darnell, and Kelly Bires along with legendary Wisconsin racer Dick Trickle will be testing Monday July 16th at Slinger Speedway in preparation for the July 17th Slinger Nationals. Press Relese (07-16-07)

Al Schill chased down leader Lowell Bennett to win the Goemans Rapid Mart 75 at Slinger Super Speedway Sunday night.  With under ten laps to go in the race, the Slinger veteran made his move and went on to capture his second win of the season on a night celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the speedway. MIS E-News - July 15, 2007 (07-16-07)

Wisconsin native and two-time race winner Chris Wimmer returns to this year’s Larry Detjens Memorial Friday night at the Golden Sands Speedway. Wimmer, who won the race that honors his Uncle Larry in 1997 (Pure Stock Division) and 2000 (Late Model Division), will be running Wayne Brevek’s lucky #7-11. Who Won (07-13-07)

Richie Wauters made a proposal to the Fox River Racing Club about bring 3 cars to the August 2nd event in preparation for the ASA Midwest Tour race on August 7th. They wanted 12 tires and 2 guaranteed spots in the feature. Kyle Busch and Richie Wauters kid would be driving 2 of the cars. A vote was taken and the club as a whole voted it down, although it's possible they could still show up. (07-8-07) UPDATE: Kyle Busch will race at Wisconsin International Raceway pending the cars stay in one piece after th Slinger Nationals. Kyle will race Tuesday Slinger, test all day at WIR on Wednesday and than race Thursday Night. Along with Busch, JR. Norris and Richie Wauters son will also drive. After Mike Gardner won the first week, Gregg Haese and Tim Rothe have alternated winning Fox River Racing Club late model features at Wisconsin International Raceway for the last four weeks. While Gardner and Rothe again played prominent roles, it was Jim Duchow, the racing Outagamie County deputy sheriff from Appleton, in front when the checkered flag fell on Thursday night. Not many teenage boys would be caught dead in a pink car, much less race one at Wisconsin International Raceway. But Cory Kemkes has a good reason why his 2003 No. 07 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is painted bright pink. The recent Appleton East graduate did it to raise the awareness of breast cancer. Jeremy Lepak notched his first win of the season in the 60-lap late model feature Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway in the second round of the Pepsi Challenge Series. “What a run, we really needed that, “ a noticeably excited Lepak told the crowd afterwards. “We’ve had a good car lately but just couldn’t keep it together,” Lepak continued. “We worked so hard in the heat tonight to get it right and it feels good to get the win.” Press Release (07-9-07)

Kendall gets darkness-shortened Feature Armstrong gets fourth Bandit Feature, with Fassett earning first career Pure Stock Feature. Beau Sanden wins third DRP Limited Late Model Feature, while David Trute gets his first of 2007 in the Super Stocks. Power outage sends fans home early, ending SLM Feature under yellow. Steve Carlson and Eric Fransen are the latest names added to the list that will be chasing the Larry Detjens Cup for winning the Miller Lite Slinger Nationals.  Carlson one of the winningest short track racers in Country has never raced at Slinger Speedway, while Fransen has logged 1000’s of laps with numerous wins on the famed high banks. David Prunty found himself in the right place at the right time, utilizing the outside groove to storm into the lead with 12 laps to go and driving to victory in the Keith’s Marina 85 Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway. Al Schill was the winner of the 30-lap late model semi-feature over Matt Raudabaugh and Mike Meyerhofer. Green Bay brothers Doug and Nick Mahlik will have their super late models on display at Pleshek-Vosters Outdoor Power Equipment in Kaukauna on August 6 from noon to 5 p.m. The Mahlik brothers compete full time in the Kwik Trip ASA Midwest Tour presented by Echo Power Equipment.  They will be promoting the Factory Motor Parts 150 which will take place at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna Tuesday, August 7. When the Kwik Trip ASA Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment makes its inaugural appearance at the Wisconsin International Raceway on Tuesday August 7th for the Factory Motor Parts 150 there will be a very familiar face in the field for race fans. Jim Duchow mention in an interview during pre race activities last night at WIR that he will be missing a night in a couple weeks. He will be racing at Bristol Motor Speedway. The ASA Late Model Challenge Series heads to Bristol Motor Speedway on August 4th and it was reported on the Todd and Eddie Show that Jeremy Lepak will be running this race in a car owned by Dan Devine. Wisconsin International Raceway held the White race last night with beautiful weather. 22 Late Models timed in with Nate Van Wychen being the fast qualifier. There were no qualifying races or B feature as all cars were put in the feature. Gregg Haese took the win in the first 50 while Nate Van Wychen took the win in the second 50 over Pete Vandermolen Jr. Gregg Haese and Nate Van Wychen were co champs of the white race. Bobby Gutneckt was the winner of the Mid American feature while Nick Boldt won the sizzlin 4's and Willy Van Camp one the Figure 8's. (07-22-07)

Brandon Hill had his hands full even before the 100-lap main event as nearly 200 of his fellow employees were on hand to watch him race. He didn’t disappoint his fans along with the large crowd on hand as he went on to collect his first ASA Midwest Tour win. He becomes the eighth different winner in nine events this season. Nate Haseleu set the fast time for the Echo Chainsaw/Five Star Race Car Bodies No Bull 100 presented by Briggs and Stratton and Lancaster Toyota. Haseleu set a fast time of 17.701 second (101.689 mph) around Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile Oval. The American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour rolls into Morris, Illinois to the Grundy County Fairgrounds this Friday the thirteenth for the ninth annual George Appleton Memorial. The George Appleton Memorial is one of the most prestigious Late Model races in the country and is held in memory of the founder of Appleton Rack and Pinion, Inc. based in Minooka, Illinois who passed away in 1998. Matt Borland from the Haas NASCAR team had contacted us earlier in the week about coming to talk and watch Travis (Dassow) race. What a great guy, he spent the whole evening with Travis and the crew. We were told a couple of other NASCAR teams were also there to scout.  I wish we would have been at one of our better performing tracks, but I'm sure they know the Michigan guys that race there, pretty much dominate.
