Plans are under way to construct a 3/8-mile clay oval in the town of Lena. IMCA modified racer Tom Schaal of Gillett and IMCA modified car owner Mike McDermid of Oconto Falls are partners in the project, which is early in the planning stages. There is an offer to purchase 83 acres of land east of U.S. 141 off of County Trunk A. The land is owned by Gary Graef. Green Bay Press Gazette (06-30-07)
The Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Outlaw Sprint Series has a pair of shows this weekend with action kicking off Friday June 29th at Illinois' Kankakee Motor Speedway. Then Saturday the tour heads north to the Plymouth Dirt Track on the grounds of Sheboygan County (WI) Fair Park. On Saturday, June 30th, The Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Outlaw Sprint Series makes its' first of two 2007 visits to the popular venue of Sheboygan County Fair Park in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Billy Lemieux of Sturgeon Bay grabbed the lead from James Lee Tebon on lap 4 and cruised to victory lane at The Forest County Potawatomi Thunderhill Raceway. There were 123 cars in total at Plymouth Dirt Track this past Saturday night at the Sheboygan County Fair grounds. The rotation in the regular divisions of racing were Late Models, Sprints, Grand Nationals, and the Outlaw Compacts. With 22 cars in the Late Model Division, there were three heats and an A-main. Tim Lemirande of Verona drove to victory in the 20-lap Johnsonville Brats A-Main on Star Country 96.3 Night at Charter Raceway Park on Saturday night. Roger Lee of Wind Lake captured the 20-lap The Mortgage Guys Grand National Division A-Main. Eric Barth of Sauk City became the third different winner of the season in the Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends/Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series. Press Release (06-24-07)
Eugene Gregorich Sr. has the most IMCA northern sportmod feature wins between Shawano and Luxemburg with seven. Eugene Sr. won five modified titles at Thunderhill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay. This year, Gregorich began racing a more economical mod, IMCA's northern sport mod. "When I started calling some of the chassis manufacturers down in Iowa to price out cars, I was shocked. Some guys have $30,000 in their IMCA modifieds. I know this for a fact." "When I rolled three weeks ago, I was up until 1 a.m. every night that week to fix it," Gregorich said. Little Suamico's Sean Jerovetz executed a three wide pass of James Tebon and Chad Wilcox to take the lead and eventually win the caution free 25 lap IMCA modified feature at Luxemburg Speedway Friday night. A total of 127 cars were in the pits, including 30 IMCA modifieds, 39 stock cars, 19 hobby stocks, 12 northern sportmods and 27 sport fours. Press Release (06-18-07)
Travis Whitney had the biggest night in his racing career Saturday night at what he considers his home track, by capturing both ASA O'Reilly Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint main events during The Masters at Cedar Lake Speedway. With the original event schedule slated to have complete shows on each night of the two-day contest, rain which hit the speedway just following prelim action on Friday forced both A-main events to be run on Saturday night. Tim Czarneski set the pace early on in the IMCA Modified 20 lap Main event. Shawn Kilgore would stay right on his bumper until an Al Gibson spin on lap three brought the race to a hault. LaCrosse kept his momentum to win his second feature of the season and increase his point lead. Kilgore was second followed by Tim Czarneski, Todd Dart, and Paul Parker. Press Release (06-18-07)
It was a great night of racing at Plymouth Dirt Track this Saturday. The hot, humid weather didn't prevent fans from coming to watch the best racing action in the area. It was Dahmer picking picking up the checkered flag in the A-main feature over Cesar. Donny Goeden captured the annual Al & Marie Winker Memorial at the Wilmot Speedway Saturday. The year's running marked the first time Wilmot's annual sprint car classic ran under Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints sanction. Press Release (06-12-07)
Defending Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints Champion Travis Whitney picked up his first series win of 2007 by capturing the 30 lap main event on the fast red clay third-mile Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway Friday. Whitney piloted his father Walt's Don Ott powered Premier Transmissions no.9 to victory, though it was no easy task as he had to overtake other race leaders Scott Young and Mike Kertscher, and then hold off a charging Mike Reinke for the win. "Revin" Kevin Sternard took command and never looked back in picking up his first feature win of the season in IMCA Modified action at the Forest County Potawatomi Thunderhill Raceway. 111 cars packed the pits including 16 Street Stocks, 8 IMCA Northern Sportmods, 23 IMCA Stockcars, 25 IMCA Stockcars, 16 IMCA Hobby Stocks, 7 Bombers, and 17 4 Cylinders on S&B Trailer Sales night. Sprint cars featured forty drivers in four heats, two B-mains, and one twenty-five lap A-main feature. T.J. Luedke of Plymouth beat Leroy Ostrowski for the first heat, while it was Jim Melis who took the checkers over Earl Possi (Escanaba, MI) in the second heat. Tim Melis picked up the win in the third heat over Kenjay Fiedler. And in the fourth and final heat race, Al Schlafer (Sussex) showed his son Danny Schlafer how to get it done for the final heat win. It was a special night at Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, WI on Saturday night. It marked the first event for the five regular divisions at the Raceway since the May 20 fire. In a special ceremony prior to the racing events, general manager Rex Melius gave recognition and thanks to all who were involved from the day of the fire and in the time since that worked to get the facility race ready and to everyone else who have shown their support for Charter Raceway Park. Little Suamico's Danny Deau passed Kaukauna's Paul Parker for the lead on lap four and survived five caution periods to win the 29 lap IMCA modified feature during the second annual Badger State Showdown presented by CZ's Bushville Lanes at Luxemburg Speedway Thursday night. A heavy downpour this afternoon combined with high winds forced officials to cancel the first night of racing for the second annual Badger State Showdown presented by CZ's Bushville Lanes at Luxemburg Speedway Thursday. Press Release (06-7-07)

Charter Raceway Park opened its' doors for the first time since a fire raged through the facility just thirteen days prior for the first round of The Duel At The Dam. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints feature was a wild contest, however when the checkered flag waved a red hot Donny Goeden sat in victory lane, his third win in the past four IRA events. Jarred VanLaanen inherited the lead after a blown motor halfway through the IMCA Hobby Stock Feature to record his first career feature win. With an hour rain delay, heats were cut short along with features to try to get in the entire show; unfortunately due to mother nature the IMCA Modified, Bomber and 4 Cylinder Features did not get run. (Plymouth) They say in Wisconsin if you don't like the weather, wait a minute it will change. Unfortunately the change from a early afternoon thunderstorm to sunny skies did not allow Plymouth Dirt Track enough time to work the track into a raceable condition. Press Release (06-2-07)

Jeff Zwiers resigned last night from the Fox River Racing Club office as President, stating "conflicts within the club" that couldnt be resolved. As of last night, Chris Shields is the new president, according to our bylaws and we will be nominating at the next two drivers meetings on July 5th and July 12th and elect a new V.P. on July 19th, pending there are no rainouts during that period of time. Jason Schuler opted out of the hectic NASCAR schedule years ago. Hoping to return to the driver’s seat later this year, Schuler tells me that building race cars with the Wood family has kept him very busy. Dexter Bean was busy signing autographs as his mother and brother, who follows his sibling playing football, looked on. When asked about his mount for the show, Bean told your scribe it was his own. “My father has all 12 of my cars”, said Bean, claiming the man might be considered a pack rat. The lineup for July 17th's Slinger Nationals has been announced. Matt Kenseth will be back in a Pathfinder house car. Kyle Busch will drive his own car with Richie Wauters crew chiefing. Dick Trickle will drive Tim Rothe's back up car, a brand new Lefthander. Scott and Chris Wimmer will be there in family owned cars. Erik Darnell will be driving David Prunty's red colored late model. Tony Stewart sees both sides of local short track racing on a regular basis. He sees it when he participates at different venues across the country, whether it be in sprint cars, midgets or stock cars. Kenseth left the field in the dust, beating runner-up Mark Eswein of Wisconsin Rapids by 12 car lengths to collect his 27th career victory at the half-mile paved oval. The 35-year-old Cambridge native, who won an MIS track title in 1994, has three wins in six appearances at MIS since joining NASCAR's top circuit, also prevailing in 2003 and 2004. Ross (Kenseth), who will be a high school freshman this fall, is beginning his own Limited Late Model career and already has driven in two races this season. Defending track champion, David Prunty notched his fourth late model feature win of the season Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway in the US Army 75. Prunty began the event from the ninth position and steadily worked his way through the field before kicking in the afterburners with 20 laps to go and using an outside pass to take the lead for good from Mike Strupp on lap 55. After almost 20 years of racing, everything fell into place for Tim Rothe last season. The 40-year-old driver from Appleton finally won a championship — his first in any kind of stock car racing. Now that he has that first title, Rothe wouldn't mind winning as many as he can, but the urgency isn't as great anymore. Appleton Post Crescent (06-24-07)
The Fox River Racing Club's new rule mandating side-by-side restarts helped Tim Rothe to victory. Rothe's Chevrolet Monte Carlo pulled away from Jeff Van Oudenhoven's Ford Fusion on the outside on a restart on lap 12 and went on to win the 30-lap late model stock car feature on Thursday at Wisconsin International Raceway in Buchanan. Jordan Thiel, the son of the owner of Thiel Cheese from Little Chute will pilot at Late Model at Wisconsin International Raceway. The new team will pilot a brand new Hamke Chassis with Dave Stammer crew chiefing the car full time. Kyle Busch is among several NASCAR drivers returning to their short-track roots to sign autographs and compete in the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour's Factory Motor Parts 150 on Aug. 7 at Wisconsin International Raceway in Buchanan. Lowell Bennett captured his second late model feature win of the season Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway, holding off David Prunty to win the UEMSI Reunion Night 75. “I watched him (Prunty) back there,” Bennett explained later, alluding to Prunty beginning to close the gap to the lead late in the going. “I’ve got my hands full trying to beat him this year, but it was a fun night.” Press Release (06-18-07)

Thursday Night Thunder at Wisconsin International Raceway was run under perfect weather and a solid crowd was on hand. Andy Monday took fast time in the Late Models while Kris Kelly took fast time in the Limited Late Models. It was young Greg Haese taking the win in the Late Model feature. Greg was driving with a cast on his left hand after almost cutting his left thumb off. Kris Kelly took the win in the Limited Late Model feature making it a clean sweep for Kris. There was a serious wreck on the back stretch during the Limited Late Model feature that took 150 feet of fence down, all drivers were ok. Full Results can be found at Appleton Post Crescent. David Prunty proved he has the Slinger Super Speedway set-up nailed down as he held off Lowell Bennett to win the Enders Construction /Design to Construct 75 for his second consecutive and third late model feature win of the season. “The slipperier the track is, the better we are,” Prunty stated from Victory Lane, “Tonight it was really slippery and that really helps.” Press Release (06-11-07)

Rothe is preparing a new car for the legendary Wisconsin Rapids short-track star to race in the American Speed Association Midwest touring series special event at WIR on Aug. 7. The car will be a twin to the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a Lefthander chassis and a B&B Racing engine that he races. Rothe's will have his usual 56, while Trickle will be in his familiar No. 99. "The car we built for him is brand new. It's my back-up car. It's got a 2007 Left-hander chassis with the latest and greatest of everything on it," Rothe said. Competitors won't have to worry about Cliff Ebben at this year's June Sprints. He won't be racing. Denny Lamers, who owned the Chevrolet Corvette that Ebben raced up until last year, sold the car to a buyer in California. Ebben said Lamers rented the track to practice with the Mustang earlier this year, but the motor developed problems. "If Denny gets it fixed, he'll drive it," said Ebben, a former national SCCA champion. "This will be the first time since 1999 that I'm not racing." Appleton Post Crescent (06-20-07)

Tonight's races at Norway (Mich.) Speedway will serve as a homecoming of sorts for Jamie Iverson. The Escanaba, Mich., driver will return to his home track for the first time this year. With seven track titles under his belt at the 1/3-mile, paved oval, Iverson doesn't compete each week at Norway anymore. The pounding headache and burning eyes were bad enough. But the sight of Johnny Sauter looming large in the rearview mirror with the laps winding down during Tuesday night's ASA Midwest Tour Back Home 100 provided even greater discomfort for Kenny Richards. This past Saturday at Wisconsin International Raceway it was the Red Race. 32 Late Models timed in with Terry Baldry taking fast time in the #74. Mike Gardner took the win in the first 50 and Gregg Haese took the win in the second 50. Bill Prietzel won the Mid American feature. It was Nick Boldt winning the Sizzlin 4 feature and Terry Van Roy winning the Figure 8 feature. (06-11-07)

Officials with the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Power Outdoor Equipment are gearing up for a return to the D-shaped, half-mile paved oval at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna Tuesday, August 7 for the Factory Motor Parts 150. Drivers scheduled to sign autographs and race in the 150 lap event are Kyle Busch, Ron Hornaday, Ken Schrader, Johnny Sauter, Rick Bickle and the nation's winningest short track driver, former Red, White and Blue state champion Dick Trickle. Steve Carlson has run some pretty high profile racing series throughout the Midwest, and done well, too. Carlson’s original plan was to run all but three of the Kwik Trip Late Model races at the Fairgrounds Speedway. On those three nights he would be elsewhere, as in running the ASA Midwest Series. Those plans have changed as Carlson ran the April 28 ASA Midwest Series race at Elko, Minn., but decided to skip the May 19 event at Jefferson, Wis. And guess what? Steve Carlson from West Salem, Wisconsin, won The American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment Keith Fleck Miller 100 presented by Echo at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
