Asphalt Racing
Here is a chance for everyone to get together this winter, have some fun and promote Slinger Speedway at the December 14th Milwaukee Wave Game during their first annual Stock Car Night! Stock Car Night at the Milwaukee Wave. During intermission of the Wave game Team Slinger Speedway will take on Team Metcalf. Mark Metcalf (Animal House Star) will be the captain of a celebrity team that will compete against Team Slinger in an Obstacle Course. Obstacle Course will consist of: dribble around 4 cones, pass ball of wall to themselves, kick a goal, retrieve ball for next person in line. Friday, December 14th 2007, game time is 7 pm. We (Andy Monday) have sold the lefthander racecar in which we have raced in the Super Late Model divison since 2004. We have a brand new 2008 Hamke Chassis on order through Steve Strasburg at Race Car Help in Janesville, WI. We are very excited to work with Steve and look forward to a very successful 2008! We are also proud to annouce a new partnership with Dennis Chase for the 2008 race season and beyond. Dennis and Andy have teamed to form Chase-N-Monday Motorsports. Slinger Super Speedway will be switching to a 2 tire rule for the 2008 season. The first and second night of the season will be a 4 tire rule, but ever Sunday show after that will be a 2 new tire show. The only exception will be the Slinger Nationals which will be a 6 tire rule. Slinger has also made alot of weight changes depending on what engine you run. They have also brought in the Schwanke and Wegner "spec" engines. Todd and Eddie Show (11-20-07)
Frank Kreyer has announced that he has sold his share of ownership of the Dells Raceway Park. Frank announced that he will race full time in the Nascar Nationwide Series. Todd and Eddie Show (11-14-07)
Rod Wheeler started the 2007 season running the ASA Midwest Tour, toward the midle of season Rod started running some races at WIR. Toward the end of the season Rod turned the wheel over to Tim Sauter. Rod was battling some health issues which kept him out of the car. Rod has since had surgery and is slowly making a recovery. More information coming soon as far as Rod's racing plans. (10-25-07) UPDATE: Team sources tell us Rod has sold his complete car and at this times has no plans to built a car or race in 2008. Touring Racing
The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment is continuing to prepare for its 2008 season. The 2008 membership form is now available for all competitors at its website, www.asamidwesttour.com. Drivers that finished in the top 20 of the 2007 final point standings will have first choice in car number reservations based on their year end finishing position. Those drivers must submit their online request at www.asamidwesttour.com and submit full payment by the December 31, 2007 deadline. All number registrations outside the top 20 that are submitted via online registration will be granted in the order they are received unless notified of a duplicate number situation. ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment officials have released the tentative schedule for the 2008 season. 13 events have been confirmed with a 14th to be announced at a later date. The Tour will visit 14 different tracks in 2008. “We have been working overtime on getting our schedule set in stone,” ASA VP Steve Einhaus stated. “We have so many exciting things planned for 2008 that our race teams, sponsors, and our fans will be chomping at the bit to get the season kicked off.” Press Release (11-22-07)
T.D. Racing Development is looking for another superstar. The T.D. Racing Development Driver Search will take place in the coming months. The orginization will be looking for the next driver to join TDRD and team with the #89 ASA Late Model Series Machine, which has won three straight ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division Championships. When Fran Prestay and Carl Schultz, the owners of Five Star Race Car Bodies in Twin Lakes, WI, reflect back on the 2007 racing season, only one word will say it all…success. Not only have they seen success with their company but success within their company through the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment. First, their success within the company came with the help of one of their 85 employees, Brandon Hill. Hill, who works in Five Star’s Shipping & Receiving department, competed as a rookie during the 2007 inaugural ASAMT season where he finished 11th in points with one win, one top-five and four top-ten finishes in eight feature starts. Two drivers were hired to go down to Nashville to compete for a possible job as driver for the Menards' team in the ASA Late Model Series next season. Charlie Menard has competed in the ASA Late Model Series the past few seasons and has indicated that he might slow down his racing schedule but wants the team to continue. Jessie Saunders and Derek Thorn, two young drivers with the talent and poise to represent the Menards' team, were given an opportunity to drive for Menards down in Nashville for the season ending event. When you read Jonathan Eilen’s bio on his website www.eilenmotorsports.com, the first sentence says it all. It reads, “The word ‘success’ has been synonymous with his career." Fan, competitors and officials of the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment found out right away that he does live up to that sentence. The 22-year-old Hampton, MN driver surprised many back on April 28, 2007 by becoming the inaugural ASAMT winner at Elko Speedway in Elko, MN. A track where has seen a lot of success. “It’s awesome to not only win the inaugural race but to also be the first Rookie of the Year for a series that is big and good as its going to be,” Eilen stated after the season finale at La Crosse. “I wouldn’t do another series unless something better came along for me. My crew guys and I had a blast. Every race, we left the track and couldn’t wait to get to the next track.” Press Release (11-3-07)
ARCA RE/MAX Series team owner Matt Hagans has announced that his team will be retiring from racing and has placed their equipment up for auction at their Indiana race shops on November 12th-15th. The Hagans team finished second to Frank Kimmel in the 2005 ARCA point standings with driver Joey Miller in and has also featured drivers such as Donny Lia, Tim Russell and Hagans himself throughout recent seasons.
