LEISNER CRUISES TO 141 TISLER ENDURO WIN

(Francis Creek, WI – August 31, 2008) – Scott Leisner led over 200 laps en route to his first Tisler Salvage Enduro win Sunday afternoon at the 141 Speedway in Francis Creek.

Leisner dominated the final two 100 lap segments of the 300 lap event, after grabbing the lead for good in the closing laps of the first 100. Leisner was one of three drivers to pace the field up to the first mandatory pit stop.  Dave Beyer led early, with Chris Fifarek showing the way for 50 laps.  Leisner took the lead for good just prior to 100th lap.  Fifarek stalled on the track just before the restart.  He returned after the green, settling for a 12th place showing 10 laps down.

Track position is always a key in enduro racing, and Leisner was the first to line after both cautions.  The strategy allowed him to get out front, and stay out front, for the final 200 laps. Despite starting at the back of the field, Frank Calabrese was able to remain in contention all afternoon.  He claimed second for good on the 228th lap, but could never get into position to make a pass on the eventual winner.  At the line, Leisner enjoyed a four second cushion over Calabrese.

John Leisner followed his brother to line, also on the lead lap, with a third place finish just ahead of veteran enduro racer Duke Truttman. IMCA Modified stand-out Eddie Muenster ran his first series event of the season.  After falling laps down early, he charged back to place fifth. Rick Beeson matched his best finish of the year, sixth, followed by Bo Schroeder, Scott Schlafke, Beyer and Lonny Schlafke.

Scott Schalfke’s fourth top ten finish in the four races of the series allowed him to retain his point lead, with Calabrese closing to within four. The fifth and final race in the Tisler Salvage Series will be the annual Creepy Classic, slated for November 1.  The 300 lap event, complete with a costume contest for all ages, will take the green at 2:00 pm.
