Leisner Tops Tisler Salvage Memorial Day Enduro

(Francis Creek, WI - May 24, 2009) - Scott Leisner broke free from a three-car battle late in the event to pull away and win the 300 lap Tisler Salvage Memorial Day Enduro Sunday afternoon at the 141 Speedway in Francis Creek. The victory was Leisner’s second podium finish in as many events this year, after posting a second place run in the series opener in April.

The race’s first segment belonged to Dave Beyer, who paced 119 of the 150 laps.  After the mandatory half-way break, Beyer, Leisner and Chris Fifarek emerged as the front runners, pulling away from the other lead lap cars.

The trio exchanged the lead multiple times over the course of the second segment’s first 70 laps, often running bumper to bumper as they worked through the constant stream of lapped traffic. With about 40 laps to go, Leisner finally began to escape, eventually extending his lead to a five second margin over Beyer. Beyer moved in slightly during the final 10 lap stretch run, but couldn’t mount a serious challenge to Leisner at the checker. Fifarek, who also led several laps during the afternoon, finished a solid third.

April winner Todd Hebel completed a late pass on Frank Calabrese to take fourth.  Hebel and Calabrese both fought back from being a lap down to finish in the top five on the lead lap. Mike McKay and Mark Mincheski battled for the sixth spot throughout the entire second segment, with McKay finally gaining the position in the closing laps, one lap down to the leaders. Pete Mincheski, John Leisner and Richie Bunnell rounded out the top ten.

The only other driver to lead during the race was Jay Welsing who paced three circuits early before a series of mechanical issues dropped him from contention.

The next event in the Series is Sunday afternoon, June 21 when the Speedway will host the Tisler Salvage Fathers Day Enduro.

141’s regular show this coming Saturday will be sponsored by the Iron Buffalo, and will feature the first round in the Cretton Enterprises Sport 4 Triple Crown.  Qualifying for the six division program will begin at 5:30, with the first race at 7:00.
