American Speed Association Announces $50,000 Engine Giveaways

In an effort to support “Built Motor” Engine Builders and the Engine Parts Manufacturer Industry the ASA Midwest Tour is happy to announce the giveaway of two engines worth over $50,000 at the Championship Banquet, according to series Vice President Steve Einhaus.

Pro Power Racing, the recent recipient of two back to back Engine Builder of the Year Awards and B&B Racing Engines have stepped up tremendously to supply a brand new Chevrolet 9to1 and A.C.E. Motor at the year end Championship Banquet. In order to be eligible for the drawing, teams must have competed in 75 percent of the ASA Midwest Tour events with a built unsealed engine, finish in the top 20 in series points and be an official series registrant.

“I have never seen anything like this before and I can’t thank the Schlieper Brothers, Bruce Mueller, and the Engine Parts Manufacturers enough for their support, stated Einhaus. “The crate engine has severely hampered the Engine Builders and the Parts Manufacturers so I applaud their aggressive stance in support of racers who run built engines”, He added.

Pro Power Racing owner Bill Schlieper adds, “When crate engines come in, we can’t be a part of the process anymore, and it takes the engine builders out of the mix.” “There are a lot of individuals, mom and pop companies, and parts manufacturers that could get completely wiped out of the whole racing industry”, he exclaimed. Pro Power Racing has been the leader in a newly formed program titled R.A.C.E. (racers alliance concerning engines) and has helped develop national level points funds to help the racers out in the end. “We want to be a part of the race teams and it’s always exciting to be able to go down to victory lane when our engines win”, He added. “That’s why we are trying to pull engine builders together so we can all win as a team and support the racer’s.”

B&B racing engines owner Bruce Mueller feels the same about the future of built engines. “Some where along the line things went haywire and the crate phase started stepping in”, He stated. “With R.A.C.E. we are trying to work real hard to keep everyone together to weather the storm”. “I don’t feel that it will last real long because the fan’s are showing their disgust in the quality of the show with the crate engines and before long the tracks will see the lost revenue,” Mueller said. “I just think that this engine giveaway program that Steve is working on is awesome and he took it upon himself to reach out to the manufacturers and ask them for help so Bill and I are happy to help give back to those that support us”, He concluded.

More information about the engine giveaways will be provided in separate releases in coming weeks. Those eligible to win the engines must be an official member of the series and compete in a minimum of 75 percent of the series events, finishing in the top 20 in points, with a built unsealed engine.
