Lensing Eyes Multi-Championship Opportunity In ASA Midwest Tour
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (February 26, 2007) –American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment driver Dan Lensing of Roscoe, IL has his eye on both the ASAMT Championship as well as the ASA Educational Series Championship with his team.
Team Dan Lensing Racing and Beloit Memorial High School have partnered together for the upcoming racing season. The American Speed Association Midwest Tour has instituted an Educational Series that involves local high school automotive tech classes and local ASAMT teams working together. Students participating will be eligible for scholarships to automotive technical colleges based on the team’s cumulative performance at year’s end.
With the season fast approaching Team Dan Lensing Racing is making preparations for a serious championship run. Not only will Lensing benefit from having the extra help of eager high school automotive students, but also the students will have a lot to gain from being involved in a championship contending team. The students are striving to earn full ride scholarships to technical colleges for being involved with Team Dan Lensing Racing and the ASA Educational Series.
“I’m super excited to be racing the ASA Midwest Tour. The caliber of racing will be really high. It will be awesome to be racing against Steve Carlson and Nathan Haseleu - two guys I have so much respect for - it will be the most competitive series I have ever run in,” Lensing commented. “I am also looking forward to my new engine combination with the McGunegill super late model sealed engine. It’s great to see the Midwest Tour allowing this motor because it’s becoming a staple in every SLM series in the country,” He added.
Students will be working in a real racing environment at the race shop and the track. They will be working hand-in-hand with driver and crew to gain valuable knowledge and experience to help them in future automotive or racing careers. Beloit Memorial High School is proud to have their students a part of this program. Participating BMHS students Kyle Hopper, Andy Kolden, and Tim Jensen have been working with Lensing since January 2007.
“I think the Educational Series is really important, it will be getting the youth back into the sport of automotive racing,” Lensing added.
Dan has been racing fabricated late model stock cars for six years and has been an employee at Lefthander Chassis for over five years. With the available resources and knowledgeable mentors for racecar structure, set up, and fabrication the three students will be exposed to the best in the business from start to finish.
“It’s great to see Dan making the move to Super Late Models. I had the opportunity to have him racing for me at Madison International Speedway over the last few years and he is one of the nicest and most well respected drivers in the group. That will pay dividends in his move to super late models and allow him to earn respect from the veterans,” stated series VP Steve Einhaus.
Lensing will make his ASA Midwest Tour debut April 28, 2007 at the Elko Speedway.
