“Wayne Lensing has built one of the finest businesses in the short track industry and his success speaks for itself. Wayne has been very supportive of the ASA Midwest Tour since we announced our intentions and he is one of the first people to offer his hand in helping us succeed. I can’t thank him enough for being so generous in our inaugural year, stated Steve Einhaus.

Lefthander Chassis was founded in 1981 by Wayne Lensing who still operates the company today in Roscoe, Illinois just south of the Wisconsin state line. Lensing had been racing late models at Rockford Speedway, Lake Geneva Raceway and in several American Speed Association (ASA) events for the previous six years. During this time he won three championships at Rockford, two at Lake Geneva and several ASA events across the Midwest. With over 100 feature wins to his credit he became the go-to man to build, repair and setup competitors’ racecars. He began fabricating racecar chassis out of his home garage. It was during this time that cars were built for drivers Joe Shear, Rich Bickle, Steve Carlson and many other top drivers. Lefthander has since moved to bigger and better facilities to be one of the largest late model fabrication and parts warehouses.

In the early 1980s Lefthander Chassis was building ten cars per season. Now they top 150 annually. Shear was very instrumental in the success of Lefthander Chassis from designing parts to winning countless races for the company. Over 2,500 Lefthander Chassis have been built in the last 25 years. Lefthander Chassis employs 35 specialists, many racers and previous customers themselves. Matt Kenseth came to work for Lefthander Chassis for four years right out of high school selling and shipping parts. Wayne’s 22-year-old son, Dan, also works for the company and races in the ASA Midwest Tour, and has collected several feature wins and has many top-five finishes in his five-year career.

Lefthander Chassis has scheduled the second annual racer seminar and trade show for January 2008 on site. Also in 2008 they will also be adding a shock service and rebuilding center.
