NASCAR DRIVERS TO HEADLINE ASA RETURN TO WIR

(Kaukauna, WI) June 6 - Officials with the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Power Outdoor Equipment are gearing up for a return to the D-shaped, half-mile paved oval at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna Tuesday, August 7 for the Factory Motor Parts 150.

Known for decades as the "traditional Tuesday biggie" the Dixieland Challenge has drawn some of the largest crowds and car counts in the Midwest through both the ASA and ARTGO sanctioning bodies.

This year's super late model event will be earmarked by appearances by a number of current and former NASCAR stars who will be returning to their short track roots.  Drivers scheduled to sign autographs and race in the 150 lap event are Kyle Busch, Ron Hornaday, Ken Schrader, Johnny Sauter, Rick Bickle and the nation's winningest short track driver, former Red, White and Blue state champion Dick Trickle.

"What's neat about this event is that not only will these guys be signing autographs and mingling with race fans, they'll also be racing," said series Vice President Steve Einhaus.  "So far this year with the huge crowds and car counts we've had with our high horsepower, super late models we're looking to bring the fans a show they'll remember for quite some time."


Not to be overlooked are the series touring stars, one of whom has quite a few laps on WIR's tricky oval.   Series touring star Rod Wheeler of Hortonville is another former Red, White and Blue state champion, who relishes the return back to his home track. 

The event will include qualifying and preliminary races for the super late models.  The feature will be 150 laps in length, with a short break after lap 75.

Joining the ASA Midwest Tour will be the Big 8 series which will run a full program and Also the Super Motos.

Fans can purchase a $25 commemorative package program which includes a driver ticket of choice a touring stars poster and series program.  VIP tickets are $100 per person and include a private autograph session with the NASCAR stars, a question and answer session, pit pass and food and drink from 3 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.  General admission advance tickets are $20.00 while children 8-11 are $5.00.

Local businesses can also sponsor a lap for $100 and gain entrance into the VIP program for their sponsorship while receiving recognition in the event program.
