Friday, February 01, 2008 (Daytona Beach, FL) – 2007 ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment Champion, Nathan Haseleu, recently finished fifth in the speed51.com’s Super Late Model Popular Driver Award contest. Haseleu was among the 550 drivers listed on the ballot that was voted on by the fans.

The award went to 21-year-old Alabama Super Late Model and Pro Late Model racer Andy Pugh.

PASS South driver Mark Gibson was second with SuperPro Series driver Michael Giaer in third. AJ Gianio from the CRA Super Series finished fourth. Behind Haseleu were Alex Fleming (PASS South), John Van Doorn (CRA), Trey Mitchell (VIPER Pro Late Model), Taylor Satterfield (GAS) and Ryan Lawler (PASS South).

Speed 51 did state that they had over 30,000 votes and each of the 550 drivers had at least one vote.

The top 20 in the ASA Midwest Tour standings were among those eligible for this inaugural award. Haseleu was the only ASAMT driver listed in the top ten.

“I think Dave Feiler said it best at our banquet last Saturday night, and that was what were they thinking down south a few years ago when Haseleu lost his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ride,” Steve Einhaus, ASAMT VP stated. “This shows that he is a great driver and we are very fortunate that he has been able to show his talents in the ASAMT and will be a great champion representing our series in 2008.”

The first event of the 2008 season will take place on Saturday, April 19th at Elko Speedway in Elko, MN.
