PREPARE FOR A “STORM” IN THE ASAMT IN 2008

BURLINGTON, WI (Monday, March 17, 2008) – Jeff Storm is ready to get back behind the wheel full-time in 2008. After a small absence from full-time racing, the two-time Mid-American Series champion is getting prepared to run the entire 2008 ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment.
“In 2008, I have been fortunate enough to be selected by Scott Dahlburg to drive his race car. I think that this is going to be a great fit,” Storm recently stated. “I have the car here by me in my shop. We have totally gone through this car over the winter. Scott has been very supportive in my decision making on what we need and don't need. I am very grateful to be in this situation.”
Storm, from Waterford, WI, will be piloting a 2007 Lefthander Chassis with a 2008 Five Star Race Car Bodies Chevrolet Impala with a Pro Power Engine. His sponsors include: Great Lakes Components (Burlington, WI), Lynch Truck Center (Waterford, WI), Sunoco Race Fuels, Waterford Oil Co., and Storm Trucking.
This will be the first time since 2006 that Storm will be running the entire racing season, “In 2007, we did a few races at the Dells and a couple of specials. One of them was Oktoberfest at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway (West Salem, WI). That is when I realized taking 8 months off got me 8 months behind the competition,” Storm explained. “Our sport has gone thru some major changes (chassis set up) in a short time. We have done our homework and are waiting for all of the snow to melt so we can get out and test a little before the first race.”
For Storm, the reason to run with the ASAMT was not a tough decision. “We decided to run the ASA Midwest tour in 2008 because of a few reasons. First, I love the way that the teams get treated at the track. Second, I think it is probably some of the best racing I have seen in a while. And three, it is definitely the hottest thing going now with great support,” Storm stated. “I believe our car owner and team were interested in doing some tour races and having some fun doing it, so why not with the ASAMT.”
And it will be a special season for Storm as well. “This year (2008) will be 20 years racing for me. I have raced with and against some of the best,” Storm stated. “I was a teammate to Dick Trickle in 2001 for a few races in the Re/Max Challenge Series. I have raced against guys Like Steve Carlson, Eddie Hoffmann, Brian Hoppe, and Ron Breese Jr. Man I learned a lot in a little time around those guys. The competition in 2008 is going to be just as tough. Guys like Dan Fredrickson, Dave Feiler, Steve Carlson again (does this guy ever go away), Oh and that 87 cat, what’s his name?? You darn rite it’s going to be tough. We are working hard to be as competitive as we can be. I am looking forward to the challenge. Our hope is to be a contender for a win. That's my personal goal, WIN.”
"I have known Jeff for quite a few years now and he has been very supportive of me in my racing ventures. He is by far one of the most passionate and focused drivers that I know especially on race day. He has great equipment, fantastic crew guys, he's a great driver and he's generally not happy with finishing second. It is his nature, he wants to win, and that's why I have always enjoyed having him around,” Steve Einhaus, ASAMT VP stated. “He has thrown his hat into a ring with by far the ‘most experienced’ super late model drivers in the country and I can promise you he will fight tooth and nail to get the job done.”
Finally for Storm, he is very grateful at the opportunity that is ahead of him, “I got to a point in late 2006 and decided to sell my own stuff because I could not afford to do things the correct way and still be competitive. That is why I am so grateful to Scott Dahlburg for giving me this opportunity. I can only hope to do him proud in 2008. I’m just happy to say that the 25 car is back in 2008!!!”
Storm’s racing resume includes: 1992 Lake Geneva Sportsman Champion; 1995 Mid-American Mid-American Series Rookie of the Year; 1997, 98 Mid-American Series Champion; 2000 MARS Series Rookie of the Year. In 2001, he competed in the Re/Max Challenge Series for famed car owner, Jerry Gunderman.
