ASAMT COMPETITORS DIDN’T RELAX OVER THE MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND

BURLINGTON, WI (Tuesday, May 27, 2008) – While the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment had Memorial Day Weekend off, many of its teams took advantage of the racing action at or near their respective home tracks. Many of the teams had a busy weekend.
ASAMT Touring Star, Andrew Morrissey, currently second in ASAMT points, had a great weekend as he took home feature wins at Madison International Speedway on Friday night and followed that up with a feature win at Dells Raceway Park on Saturday night. He ended his busy weekend with a fourth place finish at the Wisconsin Challenge Series event at Golden Sands Speedway on Monday.
Morrissey held off defending ASAMT champion, Nathan Haseleu and ASAMT competitor, Frank Kreyer for the win at MIS.
On Saturday, he held off ASAMT competitor Jeff Storm and fellow Touring Star, Tim Schendel for the win at Dells. Dave Feiler was tenth with Mark Eswein 11th.
Haseleu had a busy weekend himself as he competed at Madison on Friday, then competed in the ASA Late Model Series North event at Grundy County Speedway on Sunday, where he finished 22nd after falling out with mechanical issues. He completed his weekend his weekend by competing in the WCS event at Golden Sands where he finished sixth.
The WCS event was won by Chris Weinkauf with Eswein in second. Eugene Gregorich Jr. was 10th and Andy Monday was 16th.
The ASA Minnesota Late Model Challenge Series held a 50-lap feature event at I-94 Raceway this past Saturday night. It was ASAMT competitor, Steve Anderson, taking home the win over Jon Olson. ASAMT Rookie contender, Nick Murgic was fifth.
ASAMT point leader, Dan Fredrickson, was 15th after he fell out with mechanical problems while ASAMT President, Tim Olson, finished 19th.
At Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN, it was Chad Walen holding off Adam Royle and ASAMT Touring Star, Donny Reuvers for the feature win on Sunday night. Reuvers currently sits second in Raceway Park points, only one point behind Royle.
The teams are now preparing for this Sunday’s Miller Lite 100 presented by Arby’s at Dells Raceway Park, the fourth event of the season for the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment. Qualifying will get underway at 2 pm with the popular ASAMT autograph session starting at 3 pm. The racing will start at 4:00 pm. Along with the ASAMT Super Late Models, the Dells Pure Stocks will also be in action with the Arby’s Pure Stock Challenge 25-lap event that will pay $400 to win and $90 to start.
