ROYLE HOPES TO ADD AN ASA MIDWEST TOUR WIN TO HIS IMPRESSIVE SEASON
By: Kevin Ramsell
BURLINGTON, WI (Wednesday, September 23, 2009) - Adam Royle has had a season that many other drivers would envy to have as well. He recently defended his track championship at Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN and finished fourth in the point standings at Elko Speedway. This Saturday he hopes to add his first American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment Super Late Model Series win to his resume.
"It's always fun to race with the ASA Midwest Tour," Royle said. "To race against guys like Steve Carlson and others, it's a pretty cool deal."
He will have some momentum coming into the "Race for the Gold -Gold Race" at Elko Speedway as he is fresh off from winning the feature event there last Saturday night.
Looking forward to this Saturday night, Royle has one goal, "I just want to qualify into the show," the Farmington, MN driver said. "We have been struggling here in the last month and I think we have gotten the bugs worked out so we should be good to go."
This will be the third time that Royle will be competing with the ASAMT this season. Back in May, he finished sixth in the Elko 125 and had a strong run going in the Shakopee 100 back in August until he fell out of the race with mechanical problems.
This Saturday night Royle will be competing with the ASAMT in a 125-lap feature event with a break at lap 75. The "Race for the Gold - Gold Race" is the final race in a summer long three-race series with the overall winner taking home $4,000 in gold. Steve Holzhausen currently has 276 points after the first two races and has a 27-point lead over current ASAMT point leader Nathan Haseleu and a 32-point lead over Dan Fredrickson. Bronze winner Steve Carlson is in fourth only 36 points behind the leader. Jeff Kendall rounds out the top-five only 54 points back.
On a side note, 2009 Elko Speedway track champion Donny Reuvers will not be able to compete in the event as he will be attending his sister's wedding that day.
The pit gates will open at 11:00 a.m. with the first practice scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. ECHO/Oregon Cutting Systems "Quick Cut" Qualifying will get underway at 4:00 p.m. Elko Speedway's Super Hornets, Power Stocks, and Thunder Cars will begin their heats at 5:00 p.m. with ASAMT and Legends racing beginning at 6:00 p.m.
