Final Goodyear Tire test goes well for ASL opener

ODESSA, MO -- A final tire test at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO in preparation for the initial race of the newly organized American Stock Car League (ASL) went extremely well Wednesday, April 20.  The opening race, a 150-lapper, is scheduled Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m. on the high banked I-70 Speedway half-mile paved oval .

"The tires we tested today were actually an improvement over last year's tires," said ASL driver Peter Cozzolino of Indianapolis, IN.
"This was the last phase in a process that should make for a great racing event at our track April 30," said I-70 Speedway president Brad McDonald.   'We had to wait out the rain for about six hours," noted Fred Duvall of Goodyear Tires.  "A completely dry track should mean a rocket fast race," he said of the tires which are the same as Goodyear radial tires used in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series.  "We are extremely pleased with the test results done by Peter Cozzolino and Rick Beebe.  We will have a very good tire at I-70 for this historic ASL opener.  We clicked off some very respectable times even through the track was not completely dry," Duvall added. "We are good to go and proud to be part of the new ASL Series," Duvall concluded.
