Cywinski to make ASL debut at I-94 Raceway Sunday evening
SAUK CENTRE, MN -- Three-time ASA National Tour champion Kevin Cywinski of Lakeville, MN will make his debut in the new American StockCar League (ASL) Sunday night, July 3 at the I-94 Raceway in Sauk Centre, MN. Racing will begin at 6 p.m. highlighted by a 150-lap ASL feature and 50-lap Mid-Am Super Truck feature. Compact U Cars and Thunder Cars will also compete on the 3/8-mile paved oval. Practice begins at 2 p.m. with qualifying at 5 p.m. Twenty-four cars are scheduled to start the 150-lap ASL race.
"I've raced at Sauk Centre before and I like the characteristics of the track. It's a driver's track with a lot of three-wide racing. I'm looking forward to it," Cywinski said. He will drive the Country Joe Homes Monte Carlo. Cywinski won ASA National titles in 1997, 2002 and 2003. He was also the ARTGO Late Model Series champion in 1995 and the Central Wisconsin Racing Association champion in 1986.
Some of his top competition for Sunday night's 150 includes Steve Carlson of West Salem, WI, Jarit Johnson of El Cajon, CA, Bryan Reffner of Stevens Point, WI, Trevor Stewart of St. Cloud, MN, Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA, Nate Theise of Lakeville, MN, Adrew Morrissey of DeForest, WI, Ronnie Hawley of Winona, MN, Ladon Cassill of Fairfax, IA, Hal Collins of Fort Worth, TX, Ryan Mathews of Lake Geneva, WI and Jeff Streeter of Chowchilla, CA. "It should be a good race," Cywinski said. "I think it will be the best field of cars ASL has had so far," he noted.
