Bryan Reffner holds down number one spot heading into next ASL 150 at WIR Aug. 2nd
KAUKAUNA, WI -- Former NASCAR Craftsman Truck racer Bryan Reffner of Stevens Point, WI leads the American StockCar League (ASL) point standings heading into the next series event Tuesday night, Aug. 2 at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna. Qualifying begins at 4 p.m. followed by an autograph session at 5 p.m. and racing at 7:15 p.m. on the D-shaped half-mile paved track. The program will be highlighted by the 150-lap ASL feature, 44-lap B & B Race Engines Late Model Shootout and the 30-lap Royal Rumble matching up Mid-American Stock Cars and Mid-Am Super Trucks in one race.
Reffner, a former ASA National Tour point champion, got off to a quick start in the new ASL by winning the series opener in April at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO. But, Ryan Mathews of Lake Geneva, WI won the most recent ASL race at I-94 Raceway in Sauk Centre, MN and has closed Reffner's lead to 497-488. Others in the top ten are: Trevor Stewart, St. Cloud, MN, 464; Andrew Morrissey, DeForest, WI, 454; Jonathan Davenport, Blairsville, GA, 414; Jarit Johnson, El Cahun, CA, 403; Paul Paine, Mound, MN, 378; Tret Allen, McGregor, TX, 301; Landon Cassill, Fairfax, IA, 270; and John Vig Jr, Shakopee, MN, 270.
The biggest ASL field of the year is expected at Kaukaua Aug. 2 as approximately ten new drivers will make their series debut. Those new faces include Joe Pelligrino, Glenolden, PA; Todd Coron, Niagara, WI; Chad Wood, Madison, WI; Brent Kirschner, LaCrescent, MN; Jeff Way, Burlington, WI; Cale Wiltse, Pinconning, MI; Rich Loch, Franklin, WI; Matthias Czabok, Ashland, OH; and Tim Schmitt, Muskego, WI.
