Money added to B & B Engines Shootout, field filling up for Tuesday, Aug. 2 WIR race
KAUKAUNA, WI -- The field of drivers who will challenge the top ten Midwest AllStar Racing Series (MARS) competitors in the B & B Race Engines Late Model Shootout is filling up as the event approaches. The 44-lap late model event honoring the late Wally Jors will be run in conjunction with the American StockCar League 150 and Royal Rumble stock car vs. super truck 30-lap race Tuesday night, Aug. 2 at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna.
Among those expected to challenge the top ten MARS division drivers are many-time Norway Speedway champion Bob Menor of Wausaukee, WI, WIR and Slinger Speedway champion Lowell Bennett of Neenah, WI, two-time Midwest Sportsman champion Jeremy Miller of Rockton, IL, I-94 ASL 150 winner Ryan Mathews of Lake Geneva, WI, and former Mid-American Series champion Rod Brewe of Menomonie, WI.
Fox River Racing Club Thursday night regulars expected to be in the lineup are Andy Monday, John Meidam, Jim Duchow, Bob Danes and Tim Rothe. Several other local drivers are expected to join the lineup for the Aug. 2nd race.
Lap leader money totaling $660 has been added to the purse. John J. Mayer Insurance has also added a $100 halfway leader bonus. The winner can now take home up to $2,200. A total of 20 late models are expected to start the 44-lap race.
Other race night activities are also shaping up. The first 200 fans through the gate will receive customer appreciation bags containing $10 or more in gifts. Artist Steve Helmo will be on hand with his racing sketches and the ASL souvenir stand will be fully stocked. A special event program is being printing for the race and the ASL yearbook will also sold for the first time this year. The Kids Kart Klub will be handling a 50/50 raffle. Free camping is offered on the raceway grounds.
