Eddie Lemay Jr. of Milwaukee captured his first win of the season in the 20-lap Johnsonville Brats Modifieds A-Main on Firari Family Night at Charter Raceway Park on Saturday night. Lemay worked his way up from his fourth row starting position and slipped past Jeremy Christians of Horicon with just two laps to go to take over the lead. When Lemay took the checkered flag for the win he became the fifth different winner in the division this season. Christians finished a close second ahead of Jay Schraufnagel of Beaver Dam. Russ Reinwald of Iron Ridge overcame a third lap incident and fought his way up through the pack to finish in fourth. Mitch McGrath of Neosho came from the fifteenth starting position to take fifth.
The Mortgage Guys, sponsors of the Grand National Division, put a $100 bounty on Roger Lee of Wind Lake in the 20-lap A-Main event. It didn’t take long for the money to be collected as Don Sorce Jr. of West Allis claimed the bounty money when he drove to his second win of the season. With Sorce in the lead, a caution on lap nineteen gave second place running Lee one more shot to pick up the win. Sorce, however, had a great restart and Lee had to settle for second. Steve Seitz of Beaver Dam was in the thick of the battle up front all the way and drove to third. Dan Schumacher of Milwaukee followed in fourth ahead of Todd Ascherien of Beaver Dam.
With the bounty on Jerry Winkler of Oshkosh raised to $400 by Jim’s County Line Tavern of Oshkosh, the Dodge Central Credit Union Stocks 20-lap A-Main was sure to be intense. Winkler was scheduled to start one row from the back and opted to start in the rear in an attempt to claim the bounty money for himself, if he was able to pick up the win. Aaron Streblow of Waupun grabbed the lead at the start and drove away to a comfortable lead. In the fierce battle for position back in the pack, Jerry Kope of Oshkosh sliced his way through traffic from the sixth row to move up into second by the midway point of the race. Winkler was struggling a bit but eventually began to pick off one spot after another. A caution on lap eleven wiped out the advantage held by Streblow as the field gathered right behind for the restart. Two laps later, Kope moved around Streblow and raced to the win and pocketed the bounty money. Craig Lepple of Beaver Dam finished a strong second. Roger Frank of Beaver Dam fought his way to a third place finish ahead of Jon Schultz of Waunakee and Jeremy Schwoch of Horicon. Jerry Winkler finished in seventh behind Aaron Streblow.
Brad Weber of Rolling Prairie moved up quickly from the fourth row to take over the lead from George Giesen of Neenah on lap four of the 20-lap Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends/Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series A-Main. Weber stayed out in front the rest of the way to record his second win of the season. Eric Barth of Sauk City recovered from a spin on lap five and charged to a second place finish. Joey Johnson of Hartford also had an impressive run as he came all the way from the last starting position back in row ten to finish in third. Phil Van Tatenhove of Gibbsville followed in fourth. Greg Hartlaub of Sheboygan Falls rounded out the top five.
Aaron Stolp of West Allis became the first repeat winner of the season in the Wally’s Auto Dirt Devils Division as he drove to the win in the 20-lap A-Main. Stolp moved up quickly from the fourth row by using the high outside groove and took over the lead on lap four. Stolp led the rest of the way to the checkered flag and the trip to the Winner’s Circle. Tim Draheim of Beaver Dam ran well and claimed the second spot. Shaun Diebert of West Milwaukee edged out Tim Sheppard of Beaver Dam for third. Early race leader, Kevin Schutz of Madison, drove to fifth.
Andy Voigt of Beaver Dam, Dave Schoenberger of Beaver Dam and Mitch McGrath were victorious in the Modified B-Mains. Heat race wins went to Adam Reed of Beaver Dam, Don Scheffler of Wauwatosa, Mike Sandholm of Oconomowoc, Dave Schoenberger, Tim Lemirande of Verona and Aaron Rake of Beaver Dam.
Grand National heat race wins were recorded by Don Sorce Jr. and Nathan Persha of Iron Ridge. Heat race victories in the Stocks division were taken by Roger Frank, Jon Schultz and Dan Troyan of Menomonie Falls. Brad Weber, Eric Barth and Warren Ropp of Kalona, IA claimed the Legends heat race wins. Dirt Devils heats were won by Tim Draheim and Aaron Stolp.
