Charter Raceway Park Victory Lane Filled With Repeat Visitors

Beaver Dam, WI – June 23, 2009 – The weather heated up the action at the Charter Raceway Park fifth-mile oval in Beaver Dam. The Tuesday Night Kart Series completed a night of features in record time with all winners making return visits to victory lane.
Elijah Koenig drove into victory lane for the second time this season in the Briggs Sealed Box Stock division feature race. Starting on the pole, Koenig bolted to the lead at the start and never looked back. T.J. Spierowski, the only other division feature winner this season, followed in second but soon found himself in the clutches of Christopher Peterson. Peterson was able to take the position away from Spierowski, but no one was going to catch Koenig as he streaked to the finish line. Peterson and Spierowski maintained their spots in the top three as the checkers flew.
Briggs Junior/Animal 2 feature racing also resulted in a second time winner ending up in victory lane. Wyatt Blashe started the feature on the inside of the second row and followed Tristan Koenings to the front past pole sitter RJ Tackman. Later on the first lap, newcomer Matt Berlin worked his way into third past Tackman. Five laps later, Blashe made a smooth pass underneath Koenings in turn two and assumed the lead. The top three drivers blistered the track, lapping the rest of the field by the time the white flag flew. Blashe led the rest of the race and took the win, his second of the season. Blashe was followed to the line by Koenings and Berlin.
Karly Stadler continued the pattern of the night, returning to victory lane for the second time this season in the Briggs Junior/Animal 3 division. Starting in the fourth position, Stadler worked high and low, moving up two spots into second on the first lap of the race. Chasing down race leader Jesse Krahn, Stadler made her move diving down low in the second turn and driving into the lead on the backstraight. From then on Stadler was full throttle and pulled away from the other karts building up an almost straightaway lead. Shelby Berlin, a heat winner earlier in the night, moved past Krahn to take over second and tried to close the gap on Stadler. Stadler, who had handling issues earlier in the evening, had no issues on her way to the victory. Berlin settled for second followed by Krahn.
Bryan Tolan scored a clean sweep on the night with wins in both heat races and taking the win over Derrick Qualla in the Briggs Heavy feature. The win was Tolan’s third victory in four races this season.
Justin Peterson turned a tenth place finish last week into a distant memory as he swept the evenings events in the Animal Pro division. Peterson drove past Kyle Marten using the low line on the backstraight and had the lead by the time the field completed the first lap in the feature. Slowed by an early caution, Peterson had to contend with Steve Salisbury on the restart. Peterson held off Salisbury and ran away to capture his third win of the season. Salisbury held on to second, his best finish of the year so far. Marten and Zak Emmons put on a spirited battle, exchanging the third position a couple times on the way to the finish line. When the race ended, Marten took the checkers in third with Emmons in fourth.
The Tuesday Night Karting Series returns to Charter Raceway Park next week, June 30th. Pits open at 4:30pm, with practice at 6:00pm, and racing at 7:00pm.
Saturday night, June 27th is a Charter 6-division night on Dodge County Fire Fighters Night and $1.00 Hot Dog Night.
