Wednesday, January 09, 2008 (Loves Park, IL) – The fourth full season of the Big 8 Series will begin on Sunday, April 13th at the Rockford Speedway, Big 8 Series officials announced today. The 2008 schedule will feature eight racing dates at five different tracks.

The season opener will be the headline event for the annual Spring Classic event at the famous quarter-mile facility just north of downtown Rockford. The “Weekly Warriors” will be competing in a 100-lap feature event. The Mid-American Series will also be competing that afternoon in a 50-lap feature event.

The Big 8 Series will then join the ASA Midwest Tour for its first of two companion events on Sunday, May 4th at Madison International Speedway. A 38-lap feature on the fast half-mile oval will provide some great side-by-side racing as part of the track’s season opening event.

A return trip to MIS is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24th to run in support of The Swiss Colony All-Star Challenge event. Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart will be competing that night in a 100-lap Super Late Model event. The Big 8 Series will also be competing in a 38-lap feature event sponsored by Rockweiler Insulation.

Officials are still working on a July date. Once that is confirmed, it will be announced.

The “Weekly Warriors” will make their second visit to Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI on Tuesday, August 5th. The Series will again run in a companion event with the ASA Midwest Tour in a 38-lap feature event around the half-mile “D”-shaped oval.

For the fourth year in a row, the Big 8 Series will be the headline attraction for the two-day Wisconsin State Championships at Jefferson Speedway. This unique designed quarter-mile oval will provide some great short track racing action with a twin-50 lap feature event.

The Series will then cross the boarder to Rockford Speedway on Saturday, September 27th as part of the National Short Track Championships. Once again, they will challenge the famous speedway in a 100-lap feature event.

The 2008 season and champion will be crowned on Thursday, Oktober 2nd at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. A 40-lap feature event will highlight the first day of the famous four-day Oktoberfest Race Weekend.
