BIG 8 SERIES CHAMPIONS HONORED THIS PAST SATURDAY NIGHT

Tuesday, January 22, 2008 (Loves Park, IL) – With wind chill temps in the -20 to -25 degree range, it didn’t stop the “Weekly Warriors” of the Big 8 Series to come together and celebrate the 2007 season. The Big 8 Series awards were handed out this past Saturday night at the Forrest Hills Lodge in Loves Park, IL.
Jeremy Miller picked up the hardware for his 2007 championship. Along with the champion’s trophy he was also presented with a nice framed photo by Big 8 Series photographer Mark Melchiori and the unique Big 8 Series Champion Belt Buckle.
Ricky Bilderback picked up his second place trophy as well has his seventh consecutive Rockford Speedway championship on Saturday night.
Matt Bryne not only picked up his third place trophy, but was also honored as the 2007 Big 8 Series Rookie of the Year. He was also presented with a special framed photo by Melchiori and a radio package from Jim Naumann of Competition Race Technology and Avcomm Communications.
Ed Szelagowski Jr. rolled his way to a brand new body courtesy of Five Star Race Car Bodies. The Big 8 Series competitors in attendance had an opportunity roll a ‘die’ for an opportunity to win the new body and it came down Szelagowski winning with a high roll of six.
Mike Ehde was recognized for winning a new Lefthander Chassis at the last event of the 2007 season at Oktoberfest.
The 2008 Big 8 Series will open on Sunday, April 13th with a 100-lap main event at the Rockford Speedway’s annual Spring Classic season opener.
