New era to begin as DRP kicks off 2007 season
When racing goes green this Saturday night at the Dells Raceway Park, fans in attendance will be witness to a new beginning at the famed one-third mile oval. The April 21st opener for this historical Wisconsin racetrack will be its first step back towards credibility.
Long a favorite with fans and racers, the track had suffered through recent years of financial instability under the past ownership. Shut down by the courts in 2006, a Juneau County Sheriff's sale cleared the way for Lance Fielitz, Joe Graziano, and Frank Kreyer to purchase the track in February of 2007.
Since taking physical possession on February 16th, the trio has worked hard to make preparations for their inaugural 2007 season. While the new owners readily admit to making mistakes as they worked towards the opener, they have never lost sight of their mission to return this track back to it's rightful place as one of Wisconsin's best racing venues.
It all begins this Saturday, as DRP hosts five divisions of short-track action with Leo's Super Late Models, Schulz Chevrolet Limited Late Models, O'Brion Agency Super Stocks, Hillsboro Equipment Pure Stocks, and Two River Signs Bandits all in action. The Late Models will run a Grand Opening 75-lap Feature.
mong the new additions this year at DRP, is the Fielitz Trackside Grill, the Turn 5 Tiki Bar, the Brew-City Pub and of course - the DRP Girls.
