FIREWORKS !!!!FIREWORKS AND MORE FIREWORKS!!!!!!
The fox river racing club season thus far has been fabulous. Increased car counts in all top three divisions and the fan count has been excellent, as well. The points chase in both ½ mile divisions might just be the biggest reason to get excited of them all. The late model chase has #45 Jeff Van Oudenhoven holding a slim margin of 8 points over #45 Mike Gardner. It is the year of the #45’s in the Late Model Division thus far, as a third #45 Brad Dahmer has two heat race wins already this year at wir and is in a tight battle for rookie of the year with #7 Brady Baldry, #111 Marshall Beck, #50 Mike Anthony and soon to be affirmed rookie eligible #14 Eugene Gregorich, Jr.
Several different drivers have made appearances in the dash this year, such as last week’s fast qualifier #66 Troy Nelson and much improved #05 Nate Van Wychen. It has become harder than ever to qualify into the feature on time, with only 14 slots open each week and the other 4 coming from the semi-feature.
In the Limited Late Models, 1 point separates three drivers from the lead. #1K-Kris Kelly and #66 Jim Duchow both have 300 points and #14 Brandon Conrad has 299. #52Todd Verhagen and #58 Gary Natrop are still right in the thick of things as well.
#49 Randy Van Roy has a comfortable lead on the rookie of the year competition.
#3 Dylan Wenzel leads the Super Stock standings by 10 points over the #4 team car Greg Hauser and Andy Casavant. #5 Dan Vixmer leads the sport truck standings by 23 points over #44 Ron Maganz. Youngster Reagan May is leading the rookie points race over #51 “rowdy” Jordan Carpenter. The Sizllin’4 division has only one point separating new leader #7 Scott Verboomen over #69 Derek Schmidt. The figure eight division is very tight with only 10 points separating the top 4 drivers of #13 Jeff Wholrabe, #19 Dan Van Daalwyk, #09 Terry Van Roy, and #4 Jared Baughman.
Lots of tight points battles to come and watch, plus a healthy dose of fireworks to fill your night with excitement. The only advice I have for this week is GET THERE EARLY!!! The way our crowds have looked on regular weeks, I can only imagine what it will look like this week. The weather is predicted to be beautiful, which helps matters even more.
Other local tracks have decided to also move their weekly show to Thursday this week because of the holiday weekend coming up. However, WIR is the part of the Pyrotechnics Guild International location tour, so who do you think will have the best fireworks??? Rhetorical question, of course….. No increase in admission, just $9 for adults for a great seat, $4 for students and kids 10 and under are free. Concessions are still a LOT cheaper than the other tracks I have recently visited. So, even though you could spend more on gas coming to WIR, you will see better fireworks and have cheaper gate admission and cheaper concessions. Car pool and take an economy car and we are by FAR the better choice…
