Thursday, August 6th, 2010 Standard Electric Night, featuring Big Wheel Races at 6:45pm
It was a crash marred week last week, with several top contenders in the LLM class getting involved in wrecks and/or single car crashes. The other divisions also had their share of altercations. We are hopeful that this week will bring many more Green Flags than Yellow Flags and less cars have damages to work on over the 13 day hiatus during the Fireworks Convention.
#2 Lowell Bennett had an outstanding run in the feature and closed to within 14 points of current leader #8 Terry Baldry. (The original info. released to the press was incorrect, due to a scoring gremlin..) #45 JVO has climbed back up to third in the standings and with some good luck, could still challenge for the crown again over the last four weeks of the season…
In the LLM class, #52 Brent Strelka took his second feature of the year. Had he been competing FT this year, he may have been challenging for the championship. #81 Tanner Bohlin had some bad luck, but stays on top, due to some additional misfortune of other top drivers in this class.
In the SS class Larry Raygo “my eggo” won the feature, but the #4 champ-wagon still remains on top in the standings by a country mile….
#4 Reagan May was in a different zip code on Thursday, as she cruised to the easy victory. She is a natural race car driver with a lot of talent, which I am sure we will see a lot more of in future years. #96 Jason Plutz extended his lead from 9 point to 13 points, but it is still a very close race.
#66 Tom Schweitzer won the first week of going back to ONE sizzling 4 feature per week, while #41 Dave Wacek was black flagged and lost his point lead in the process. #5 Wayne Sonkowsky and #3 Rick Wenzel have both passed him in the standings, but Wacek still has 4 weeks to get the lead back.
In the Crazy Eights, #99 Dan Gracyalny won the feature and also took the lead back in the standings over his other car, which is piloted by #49 Craig Vande Wettering.
Please try to come out and watch some of your local track stars take on the traveling stars of the ASA Midwest Series on Tuesday, August 3rd. Several local drivers plan to compete and give the travelers a run for their money…
You can get two doses of racing action this week on Tuesday and Thursday, so you can stock up for the famine, as no races are scheduled for Thursday, 8/12 due to the PGI Fireworks Convention….
Just 4 Thursdays left to the season. Don’t miss a single show, as a lot can happen in one week……
