Long Prairie, MN: RJS Racing is proud to announce that 2005 IRA Runner-up Scott Young has been hired to wheel the potent #1H outlaw sprinter in 2006. "He's hungry, he knows how to win and more importantly, he wants to win," stated team owner Ron Wiuff about the decision to put Young behind the wheel. "There were a lot of real good drivers calling and looking for the ride, and to be honest, the decision was hard, but we feel Scott has what we are looking for. He's a hell of a good driver, professional and works well with sponsors and the media."
Scott Young, who scored two feature wins in IRA action in 2005 enroute to a second place finish in the season points, is also excited about the deal. "Ronnie's car was fast all year long last year. They've got excellent equipment and were a strong contender all year long. We're hopefull now that this partnership will bring everything together for the team. Between "Biggun" (Sean Young) and Dan Bayliss, we've got a good handle on the equipment as well." stated Young.
The Sanburg & Son/RJS Racing #1H will be competing for the 2006 IRA Championship title along with selected World of Outlaw, National Sprint Tour and All-Star events in various combinations of chassis and powerplants. "We'll be using Maxims and J&Js with the Gaerte and Tronsdon engines" comments Wiuff. Young elaborated that the pairing up will give the team a wider variety of equipment by combining the previous efforts of both teams. In addition, the team will be utilizing Weld Wheels, Hoosier Racing Tires and HRP Wings. "We'll be ready for sure," stated Young. "We're really looking forward to the Rick Schmidt Memorial in Beaver Dam this year. We'll see if I can give Ronnie the one that got away from him last year." Humored Young. Young won the 2005 event after Wiuff's former driver (Matt Folstad) established a brand new track record at the half-mile fairground facility. Later in the season, Wiuff's #1H was running a strong race at the same facility before running short of fuel, relinquishing the win. "I'd really like to able to do that for Ronnie and start the year out right!"
