REINKE IRA KANKAKEE FLYER
6/29 Kankakee, IL Mike Reinke picked up his first Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints win of the season by capturing the 25 lap headliner at the Kankakee Motor Speedway. The fast highbabked speedbowl fit Reinke's rim-riding style perfectly as the SCA Maxim was spectacular. Reinke's win combined with numerous runnerup finishes this season put him on top of the IRA season point standings.
Kim Mock led the first eight laps before both Reinke and Travis Whitney would roar by. Withe Reinke on the high side and Whitney running the bottom, the two ran nearly side by side on the ultra-wide track for four laps before a Joe Symoens spin brought out the caution on lap twelve. On the restart however Whitney, who had a right rear tire going down, spun with fourth running John Haeni stopping too. Both would restart at the tail.
The last thirteen laps were all green as Reinke had just too much as second place runner Donny Goeden couldn't get closer than three car lengths. Steve Meyer and Scotty Neitzel had a great battle for third with Meyer getting the position just by a few feet. Kurt Davis was the nights hard charger coming from far back in the pack to claim fifth with Mock settling for sixth.
Whitney set fast time over the thirty-three car field, while some truly outstanding heat race wins went to Meyer, Goeden, Robbie Standridge, and Joey Moughan. Neitzel topped the B-main.
