GOEDEN PLYMOUTH IRA WINNER
6/30 Plymouth, WI Donny Goeden continued his outstanding season by capturing his series leading fifth Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints main event by winning the thirty lap headliner in front of a great Sheboygan County Fair Park crowd. Goeden a many time Super Modified track champion at the facility before moving into the traveling sprint car ranks made it a homecoming of sorts as the win proved to be a popular one with the fans. Goeden piloted the Bob Walldan 50th Year in Motorsports Anniversary Maxim to the win.
Third generation racer Scott Biertzer led the first several laps and appeared to be possibly heading towards his first IRA win. Mike Reinke gave chase before yielding second to the high flying Goeden. Goeden ran Biertzer down as the trio encountered traffic with Goeden setting a torrid pace on the high side opening up a several car length lead.
Reinke took over second while Scotty Neitzel and a charging Bill Warren would slip past Biertzer completing a very competitive top five. Despite a few late yellows, Goeden would still power to a safe margin. Goeden would take the checkered by three car lengths over Reinke while Warren edged a wall scuffing Neitzel for third, while Biertzer came home fifth. Travis Whitney charged his way from deep in the field to claim sixth with Todd King, Steve Meyer, Kurt Davis, and Jason Johnson completing the top ten.
King set fast time over the thitry-three car field, with heat wins going to Goeden, Davis, Johnson, and Biertzer. Scott Uttech captured the B-main. Joe Symoens and Ty Bartz were involved in seperate heat race incidents ending their evening early.
IRA's next event is the annual King of Wisconsin at the Wilmot Speedway Saturday July 7th.
