IRA Northern Doubleheader On Tap 7/28-29
By Paul Pittman
The O'Reilly Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw 410 Sprint Series travels north this weekend to a pair of tracks hosting their inaugural IRA events. On Saturday July 28th, IRA takes to the high speed Arlington Raceway located southwest of Minnesota's twin cities. The IMCA Sprints will be a support class to the IRAs' 410's giving fans a double dose of sprint car action. Defending IRA Champion and current point leader despite being a Minnesota resident himself, will get his first look at the Arlington Raceway on Saturday too as it's been many years since the track hosted a 410 show, actually NCRA being the last sanction.
Then Sunday the series travels through the twin cities east to Wisconsin's Eagle Valley Raceway in Jim Falls (just north of Eau Claire). It appeared on the IRA schedule last year, only to have the show fall to rain. The banked 3/8 is gonna give it a try again with Eau Claire resident Billy Balog set to take on the IRA travelers.
Donny Goeden, Scott Biertzer, and Kurt davis all picked up wins with IRA on their western swing last weekend, Goeden scoring his 6th win of the season while Biertzer and Davis both scored long overdue first career wins.
Whitney holds a slim point margin over Mike Reinke, while Scotty Neitzel, Steve Meyer, Goeden, and John Haeni give chase.
