IRA Race Results: Charter Raceway Park (Beaver Dam, WI) Sept 1, 2007

Beaver Dam, WI (Sep 1, 2007):  Thirty winged Outlaw Sprinters helped to kick off the Labor Day weekend at Charter Raceway Park on Saturday night on a perfect night for racing.  Terrific weather lent to a perfect track which was more than evident during time trials as time's did not fall off at all from start to finish and when all was said and done, it was Scott Young topping the time sheet with a lap of 12.032 seconds.  Heat race victories were scored by Kurt Winker, Brian Kristan and Todd King as all three races spun off in quick fashion.

The anticipated thirty lap feature was exactly what fans expected.  Great racing action from the front of the field back, although many were wondering if anyone would catch Mike Reinke.  Reinke grabbed the lead on the second restart after teh initial was called back.  Steve Meyer tried to keep pace with Reinke's blistering laps, however, found himself in a battle of his own near the halfway point as Whitney and Young had thier own sights set for the top spot.  To get there though, they had to get by Meyer so as the three diced their way through traffic.   Reinke capatalized on their efforts and extended his lead, only to be shortened by cautions on lap fifteen and nineteen as the handleing went away on Winker's #48H, sending him to the pits.  Action was slowed again on lap 24 when Joe Symoens and Darrell Dodd got together in turn four, ending Dodd's run with a broken front end.

The final dash for the checkered saw Scott Young fading with Billy Balog and Brian Kristan coming on strong.  Balog managed to get by Meyer while Kristan 's effort was a little more involved.  Meanwhile, back up front, Whitney was able to track down Reinke and with two laps to go, set him up for a all or nothing charge which paid off and lead to a trip to victory lane.  Reinke would settle for a strong second with Balog, Kristan and Meyer rounding out the top five.

The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series returns to action on Sunday night as the Labor Day Weekend continues at the Seymour Raceway in Seymour, WI.  The event marks the return of sprint car racing, long abscent at the North-East WI venue.  Then, on Sept 7th, the series travels to Superior (WI) for the annual Northern Nationals, followed up on Sept 8th with the Jerry Richert Sr Memorial at the Cedar Lake Speedway.  The series doesn't stop there either as the following weekend marks the make-up date at the Langlade Speedway in Antigo for the postponed Summer Sizzler, followed up by the Dick Witt Checkered Classic at the Dodge County Fairgrounds.  For complate scheduling information, please visit our website at www.irasprints.com.
