"DICK TRICKLE 99" RETURNS TO OKTOBERFEST IN 2008

New Semi-Feature event added for cars not qualified into the big event.

WEST SALEM, WI (Sunday, April 27, 2008) - Oktoberfest Race Weekend officials are pleased to announce that the "Dick Trickle 99" will return to this year's four day race weekend on Friday, Oktober 3, 2008.  Along with the main event, a new semi-feature event has also been added called, "The Stubby."

"The Stubby" will be a 49 ½ lap event, half the distance of the "Dick Trickle 99" to the next fastest qualified cars not advancing to feature event.  Twelve cars will be inverted and officials will set the size of the field.  This race will be run immediately after the second segment of the "Dick Trickle 99".

The winner of "The Stubby" will have a choice of taking $1,000 and go home or the option of taking $500 and advance to the rear of the third segment.  "The Stubby" winner will be awarded the same number of points as the leader after the first two segments.  For example, if the leader after the first two segments has five points, "The Stubby" winner will also get five points, but will start well behind the point leader.

"Last year was the first year for the event and we had 77 cars come and qualify but only 26 drivers were able to compete in it," John McKarns, Oktoberfest promoter stated.  "We felt that in 2008, we need to add something more for those competitors who made the trip and didn't make the race.  " 'The Stubby', who is named after my late father, is an additional race for those teams 40 plus teams who made the trip to Fest, a worthwhile and fun trip.  Plus, it's something that I think our fans will enjoy watching as well."

The "Dick Trickle 99" is a unique 99-lap feature event broken into three 33-lap segments.  Drivers will earn points for each segment with one point going to first, two for second, and so forth.  After the three segments are completed, the driver with the lowest score is the winner of the event.

Last year's inaugural event saw a starting field of 26 cars with Steve Holzhausen and Dan Fredrickson tied at the end of the three segments.  The tie-breaker of who finished the highest in the final segment was used to declare Holzhausen the winner.

"Last year's race was exciting and well received by the record crowd of over 4,000 fans, so it was an easy decision to bring it back in 2008," McKarns stated.  "But, we realized that we need to do something to make it worthwhile and give us a great shot to have another large car count.  I think 'The Stubby' will be a fine addition to our Friday night of racing at Fest.  Make your plans now to be a part of this."

The 39th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend will take place on Oktober 2-5, 2008 at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI.  The four day race weekend will feature many of your favorite local divisions and series including the ASA Midwest Tour, Big 8 Series, and the ASA Late Model Series North.

Make your plans now to be a part of this great fall weekend classic.
