LUXEMBURG SPEEDWAY SETS 2006 SEASON SCHEDULE
By Joe Verdegan

(Luxemburg, WI) - Luxemburg Speedway track officials have released an aggressive, 22 date schedule which features 12 different divisions competing at the semi-banked, third-mile clay oval during the 2006 campaign.

As in past years, the backbone of the track's slate will be it's weekly divisions which include IMCA modifieds, stock cars and hobby stocks, along with sport fours each Friday night. Lady 4's will run on a rotating basis.

Highlighting the season schedule will be a two day show June 8 and 9. The first ever IMCA Badger State Showdown will shell out a whopping $25,000 in prize money, including $3,000-to-win in the IMCA modifieds and $2,000-to-win in the IMCA stock car division. IMCA hobby stocks will also run for an increased purse as well. The huge payout is expected to lure many out-of-state hotshoes, as this show will be the largest paying IMCA sanctioned event in Wisconsin's history.

The popular late models will make three appearances, on May 5, July 16 and August 4. All three shows will followWisconsin Dirt Late Model Association (WDLMA) rules, which are expected to draw a number of Milwaukee area cars in addition to the eastern Wisconsin WISSOTA pilots. The late model shows will be sponsored by Seubert Calf Ranches of Dorchester, WI. "These rules will allow the fans to see a few different late model drivers up this way," said track manager Rick Goral. "Despite the fact our late model shows have had bad luck with rainouts in recent years, the car counts have always been solid. I expect more of the same this season."

The winged supermodifieds from Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car will make a pair of appearances on May 26 and August 11. The five race street stock series is slated again, with the first race May 12. The third annual Fall Classic will be run on September 15 and 16. "We decided to move our date up a couple of weeks earlier than planned due to a conflict with another race track's special," said Goral. "It will be the weekend after the Supernationals in Iowa.
We're hoping the weather can warm up a bit that weekend as well." This year's fall special is slated to include modifieds, stock cars, hobby stocks, street stocks, sport fours, Chilton Challengers, Eastern 8's and the appearance of IMCA's newest class in eastern Wisconsin, the sportmods. "We're looking at running the sportmods another time earlier in the year. When the time is right we'll announce that date," said Goral.

The season unofficially kicks off with a practice session on Friday night, April 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The practice session is free of charge to spectators while the car and driver will pay $20. All others wishing to enter the pit area will pay $5. Concessions will be available.

The season opens Friday night, April 28 at 7 p.m. IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, IMCA hobby stocks and sport fours will compete weekly on Friday nights through Labor Day weekend. Sponsorship opportunities are still available by calling Rick at 920 863 8446. The track's website, including the 2006 season schedule is located www.luxemburgspeedway.com.
