Friday Night in Review
Stoneworks of Helenville, Wisconsin, presented the Mid Season Championships at Madison International Speedway on Friday, July 22. This year our mid-season championships had a slightly new look as it was a double points night.
Bobby Wilberg topped the field of Bryden Motors Super Late Models and took home his third super late model victory of the '05 season. The race featured a strong run by Brian Johnson Jr. and Kyle Kinder who notched their best finishes of the season by finishing second and fourth respectively. With Andrew Morrissey unavailable to race, Wilberg has now built a solid lead in the points race.
Travis Sauter held off Nathan Haseleu and Bryan Reffner to win the forty lap feature for the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models. Haseleu continues to lead
the points race with a slight advantage over Wilberg. Things did not go well for Troy Hintzsche who after having major problems earlier in the night had to
borrow a car for the feature and subsequently finished last.
Charlie Cottam made his return a successful one by capturing the checkered flag in the Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Truck Series. Great to see Tom Meyers out for the first time in 2005. Todd Schmitz of Verona made heavy contact with the wall in his #67 truck and definitely gets my vote for the Hard Luck Award for 2005.
Winning the fifteen lap feature for the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman was Watertown's Jay Kalbus. Kalbus has quickly figured out MIS as he notched his second victory in a row. Congratulations go out to Janesville's Jim Burns who won his first-ever race at MIS by winning the heat race.
Hopefully you're enjoying our "Name That Tune" and trivia contests we are running between qualifying and racing. We have dozens of questions ready to go for
you to have an opportunity to win some MIS Racer Bucks. We are also working on putting together "Let's Make a Deal", "Pick Four", and other contests. Steve Einhaus is also working on putting together a "Singles Night" at MIS.
Thank You Gary and Barb Cerny
A special thanks goes out to Gary and Barb Cerny for their donations for the MIS Kids Club from Patch Products. The Cernys have been doing this for many
years and we appreciate their generosity. They are good people and we are happy to have them part of our MIS racing family.
The Hoosier Outlaws Are Coming
This Friday night the Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series will return to MIS with their high flying winged 410 sprint cars. Last year Joe Rebman of Mansfield, Ohio,
established a new track record with a lap of over 119 mph. This year they are looking to surpass that record...you have to be there to see it!
Most of the HOSS drivers hail from the states of Indiana and Ohio. It's a long haul for them to come to MIS, but they are very excited about it and see this trip as one of the highlights of their season. Some them even make the trip with open haulers which seems to be a rare thing these days. They are a great group of drivers and I really hope you have the opportunity to stop in the pits and meet them. Some drivers like Hank Lower come to MIS with over 40 years of racing experience.
The hottest driver in the Outlaw Series is a driver very familiar with Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile, Tim Cox. Tim has raced in both sprint cars and super late
models at MIS. Tim's daughter will be singing the national anthem on Friday as well.
Also in action will be the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models and the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman. This will also mark the second leg of the Wayne's Custom DIECAST Dash Series for the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models.
Friday night's racing is presented by the Dodge Dealers of Wisconsin and Bryden Motors of Beloit. Adult admission will be $15.00. You can use your punch card or use your $2.00 off receipt from last week.
Big Night of Racing On Tap for August 5
The Mid American Stock Car Series returns to Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile on Friday night August 5. This will be the third round of the Triple Crown Series with Jeremy Spoonmore and Bill Prietzel on top of the Triple Crown points. The Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models and Bryden Motors Super Late Models will also be in action. The night's racing activities will be sponsored by Laborers Union 464.
This night will also mark our first annual Racers' Reunion as many former drivers and others invovled with racing at Madison will be on hand to meet the fans. Drivers such as Bobby Gunn, Johnny Ziegler, Tom Reffner, Jim Sauter and many more will be at MIS. More updates regarding who will be attending will
announced this Friday and appear in next week's MIS E-News.

last time the series came to Madison. Also on the program will be a roll-over contest and demolition derby. This is your opportunity to be part of the show! Check out midwestenduro.com or call the track office for more information.
Hooters Pro Cup 250 is Coming Soon
