MIS E-News
by John Wells
Here's what's happening at Madison International Speedway:
It's hard to believe but Labor Day weekend is upon us and the kids are headed back to school.
Special Activities This Week
Several USAR Hooters Pro Cup drivers will be coming to Madison this week for a practice session. They will also be making appearances at the Hooters in Madison and Janesville. Any media wishing to contact any of the USAR Hooters Pro Cup drivers should contact Steve Einhaus at
miseinhaus@yahoo.com.
Mardy Lindley, currently second in points and sponsored by Hooters Air, will be at Janesville's Gordie Boucher dealership on September 7 and 8. We encourage everyone to stop by Gordie Boucher in Janesville not only to see the Hooters Air car but to check out all of the new and quality pre-owned cars at their dealership.
Gary St. Amant will be at Hooters in Madison on September 8 with his car and signing autographs for the fans.
Schedule Update
Due to last Friday night's rain out, the following schedule adjustments will be made at Madison International Speedway.
Friday, September 2 The Midwest All Star Racing Series (MARS) will be at MIS for their second appearance of the 2005 season. Also taking to Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile will be the third leg of the Mid American Super Truck Triple Crown Series. This event will also count for points in the Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Truck Series. It will, however, not be a double points night for MIS points.
Receipts from the August 26th rain out and wrist bands from the First Supply outing may be used on September 2nd, you would have to only pay the $3.00 difference in price. (Ticket prices will be $15.00 for adults)
Coyle Carpet of Madison will be sponsoring the evening's racing program Highlighting the evening will be the Coyle Carpet 100 lap event for the MARS cars.
Mars Series news and SLM Weight adjustments for Sept 2nd.
A minor weight adjustment has been made for our upcoming Mars race at MIS. "We have been working very hard to get the engine packages vs weights worked out at MIS this year to even out the competition" It seems as though the 75 lb weight penalty for the 9to1's at MIS has been working out very well so the MARS officials agreed to give it a shot. MIS is a unique track that requires alot of horsepower and torque and the weight differences will vary compared to other tracks.
The September 2 weight rules will be the following:
9to1 2brl- 2825
ACE 2brl- 2750
Concept 4brl- 2850
Info for upcoming Championships.
Due to the unfortunate rain out at MIS on the 26th we have had to make some adjustments to our schedule and race formats for each division. The Midwest Trucks will compete for their championships on Sept 2nd and it will be for single points. Non MIS trucks that finish in between, and or ahead of our weekly competitors will not be scored points. "These guys support us every week and I do not want our weekly guys having to risk their point battles due to this event.
Friday, September 9
Madison International Speedway is proud to present our second annual "Tribute to America Night." The Ford Dealers will be bringing you the first ever visit by the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Series and the running of the Miller Lite 250.
In addition to the Hooters Pro Cup Series, the Sportsman cars will also be in action. All Bryden Motors Area Sportsman cars will be racing for points as this will be their final points race of the 2005 season. This race is also open for Sportsman cars from other tracks (please note previous posting regarding rules.) MIS legal cars will receive points based on their finish in relation to other MIS legal cars. This will not be a double points night for the MIS cars. The winner of this event will win $500.00.
Tribute to America Night will include special activities throughout the day and night and will be topped off with a spectacular fireworks show. All military personnel, fire fighters, police officers, and emergency medical technicians in uniform will be admitted free.
Advance tickets are $18.00...$20.00 day of show.
Friday, September 16
Due to the rain out on 8/26, this rain date now becomes the "First Supply Twin 75s" for the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models and Bryden Motors Super Late Models. A seventy-five lap feature will be held for each division with this being the final points night of the season for both divisions. This will not be a double points night. There will be qualifying in addition to heat races and semi-features, if necessary. This will also be the third round of the Wayne's Custom DIECAST Dash Series for the ASA Late Models.
Due to the rain out and the rescheduling of this event to the 16th, the following format will be used: According to Steve Einhaus, "This happens to be the State Championships at Jefferson on the same weekend and a handful of our weekly drivers are effected by the rescheduling of our Championship. Again, these guys have supported MIS weekly and I don't feel that it is necessary to punish those that are involved by making it a double points event. There are events going on at Jefferson on Friday evening and some of our guys will be in a pinch to get back to MIS to qualify. We will still be having qualifying, heat races, and the 75 lap features for each division but for single points only."
Regular admission prices apply for this event. Your receipt from August 26th will get you into this event. First Supply wrist bands will also be excepted.
One would have to go all the way back to May 13 for our last rain out after we lost the opener due to the snow and cold.
The group from First Supply looked like they had a great time and we hope they will be back for the First Supply Twin 75 Night on September 16. A special thanks to Mike Miller and the group from First Supply.
Tribute to America Night Will Be Action Packed
Mark your calendars and tell your friends about Friday night, September 9 when the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Series makes their first-ever visit to Madison International Speedway for the running of the Miller Lite 250.
"This is going to be an awesome event. The Hooters Pro Cup Series features some of the top drivers in the country. They are very excited about coming to Madison and we are just as excited to have them here," stated promoter Steve Einhaus. He also added, "The fans are in for a treat as there will be live pit stops. We will be moving the pit wall out to its original location and all race teams will be pitting in the infield. It will be a fantastic night of racing."
Also on the racing program will be an Area Sportsman Open. Sportsman cars from MIS, Rockford, LaCrosse, Jefferson, and other tracks will be competing on Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile.
But this night is far from just racing. Madison International Speedway will be recognizing all military personnel, police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical technicians. Any of the aforementioned personnel in uniform will be admitted free. A Black Hawk helicopter will also be landing in the infield and children will have an opportunity to experience a climbing wall. To top things off a spectacular fireworks show will also be taking place.
"This is truly an event for the entire family. We think the racing is going to be great, but we also want to take time to recognize those who serve our country both overseas and at home," said Steve Einhaus.

Track Talk
Please keep Sonny Clifcorn in your thoughts and prayers as he is recovering from surgery. Sonny is the owner of the #51 ASALM driven by John Wood.
Unfortunately the rain washed out our racing program on Friday night and with the on-track autograph session. The Jason Tyler racing team was going to be selling t-shirts with 50% of the profits going to tornado relief. I encourage you to stop by the Tyler hauler when the ASALM race on September 16.
Thanks to Joe from Hooters and several of the Hooters girls who were at MIS last week cooking food to be taken to the volunteers and families affected by the tornado in the Stoughton area. Joe and the others volunteered their time and came to us wanting to use our facilities. All in all, they provided six hundred pounds of wings and eight cases of water for those involved in the clean up effort.
Congratulations to Jeremy Miller for his win at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday.
What's Happening in 2006?
Your best source of information during the off-season is the MIS E-News.
Once the 2005 season is completed we will have some major announcements to share with you regarding our plans for 2006. We are very excited about all of the plans that are in the works for next year including what's happening on both the regional and national level for the ASA Late Model Series.
The MIS E-News will continue to be sent out at least once a month during the off-season. It's very important that drivers and crews keep their email addresses updated with us at the track.
Please understand that you can always e-mail us with your questions and comments.
We urge you to encourage anyone interested in all of the happenings at Madison International Speedway to get on our E-News mailing list. It is our goal to keep you well informed during the off season.
Support Those Who Support Racing
After you leave the races, please remember to support those who support racing at MIS. This includes not only our divisional sponsors (Bryden Motors in Beloit, Weaver Auto Parts throughout south central Wisconsin, and Rockweiler Insulation) but also our nightly and special event sponsors, billboard and barrier sponsors, etc.
The drivers also must have sponsors to be able to do what they do and we ask that you support their sponsors too. Please don't hesitate to go into a local business and say, "Hey, you sponsor a car at MIS." It really goes a long way in promoting racing and the drivers at MIS.
