We hope all of you had an opportunity to get out to the races this past Friday night. We had a great turnout of cars including twenty-seven Bryden Motors Super Late Models, twenty-three Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models, ten Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Trucks, and seven Bryden Motors Area Sportsman.
Coming home with feature wins were Bobby Wilberg in the ASA Late Models, Erik Darnell in the Super Late Models, Charlie Cottam in the Midwest Trucks, and Carey Hensel in the Area Sportsman.
Notable Notes:
Noticably absent on Friday night was Nathan Haseleu...and for good reason. Nathan's wife Jessica gave birth to a baby boy. Congratulations to the Haseleu family.
Charlie Cottam's win in the Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Truck Series was his thirty-third all-time feature win in that division at MIS. Way to go Charlie. It was a night of firsts in the Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Truck Series on Friday. Vince Wilkinson made the trip all the way from Sandwich, Illinois, to race with us. Bryan Pautsch of Sun Prairie picked up his first win ever at MIS. Chris Stocks of Milton, piloting the great looking number 21, was making his first start in a race...ever!
Great numbers in the super late models with some familiar faces back with us at MIS. Steve Rubeck, John Knaus, Kyle Kinder and others are all back to race with us in 2005. Erik Darnell came home with his first feature win at MIS. Bobby Wilberg was very fast in qualifying with a lap just a little more than 1/10 of a second off the track record. Young Elliott Weiler of Marshfield won a heat race in the Bryden Motors Super Late Models in his first visit to MIS. Trent Snyder made the long haul of the week coming all the way from Minnesota. Trent was here last weekend when the weather was the only winner at MIS.
Pulling double duty, Wilberg also set fast time in the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models where he brought home the checkered flag in the forty lap feature. A great run by Malta, Illinois' Troy Hintzsche led him to a second place finish. Troy is a mechanical engineering student. For those of you who don't know, Malta is located near DeKalb. Tom Gille was driving the same car Ron Breese Jr. won the track title with last year.
Carey Hensel won the feature in the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman and proved to be a lively interview in the winner's circle. Carey has worked hard to bring the Area Sportsman back to MIS. By the way, that was MIS promoter Steve Einhaus doing the interviewing in victory lane on Friday night.
Bogey's Family Fun Park in Middleton sponsored our coin drop at intermission. Bogey's is located about a block behind the Bowling Green Sports Complex in Middleton. They have miniature golf, a go kart track, and batting cages for softball and baseball. It's a great place for the family and kids of all ages...especially the adults. They have weekly go kart leagues that run in the spring and fall. Check them out....they're a big supporter of racing.
If you didn't get a chance to taste some of the Quaker Steak and Lube wings you better try some this week. The wings with a variety of sauces were very popular. We are very happy to have Quaker Steak and Lube part of our racing program at MIS this season. They are located just off the Beltline in Middleton and you'll notice a definite racing theme when you stop in and try their great food.
This Week at MIS Nextel / Radcom Wireless will be our sponsors for this Friday night's racing action. It is also Scout Night at MIS. Scouts and Leaders in uniform are admitted for free. Friday will be Round One of the Triple Crown Series for the Mid-AM Super Trucks / Midwest Truck Series. We are expecting a large field of trucks especially since the Mid Am and Midwest rules are now compatible. Action will also take place in the ASA Late Models, Super Late Models, and Area Sportsman.
Pit gates open at 4, fan gates at 4:30, qualifying at 6:30 and racing at 8:00.
On Friday, May 20, the Mid American Stock Cars will join the racing program with their first Triple Crown Series race. Super lates, ASA lates, and Area Sportsman will be in action on the 20th. The ASA Late Model Touring Series will be at MIS on Friday, May 27 with a 100-lap feature.
