Greetings MIS Fans,
Here is an update regarding the latest happenings at Madison International Speedway.
Mid Am Cars Come to MIS This Friday Night
The Mid American Stock Car Series will make its first of three appearances at Wisconsin's Track of Champions this Friday night, May 20. This will be Round One of the Triple Crown Series at MIS for the Mid Am cars. There will be a special point fund for the top five finishers in the three race series at MIS. The series will also visit the track on July 15 and August 5. Series promoter Gary Vercautern provided me with an entry list that included nearly 40 drivers from throughout the midwest. Last year's race was great....this year's will be even better.
This Friday night at MIS is Verona Night.
Thanks to the following sponsors for becoming part of our racing program at MIS: Rockweiler Insulation, Culvers of Verona, Miller and Sons Super Market, Schroeder Drywall, Pump Connection, and Diamond Builders. Remember...support those who support racing. Also on the racing program this Friday night are the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models, Bryden Motors Super Late Models, and Bryden Motors Area Sportsman. The Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Truck Series will have the night off.
We had a great turnout of cars and trucks for our opening night especially in the ASA Late Models and Super Late Models. It was great to see such a mix of seasoned veterans and young hotshoes all at one track in one night. Drivers like John Knaus, Kyle Kinder, Steve Rubeck, Tod Kropf, Scott Ollerman and others are great additions to this season's racing program. The ASA Late Model division looks to be even more talented than last year as this series is really starting to take off not only locally but regionally and nationally. Look for big things from the ASA Late Model Series on a national level. Bobby Wilberg started off his season driving double duty by setting fast time in both the ASA Late Model and Super Late Model divisions. His super late model time was not too far off our track record set last year by Andrew Morrissey. Our opening night also featured a strong run by a young mechanical engineer to be from Malta, Illinois, named Troy Hintzsche. Troy finished second in the twenty-two car ASALM feature event. It was also great to see Brian Hoppe and Ryan Hanson out with the ASA Late Models.
We had ten trucks out for our opener with some very competitive racing. Charlie Cottam won his 33rd career feature win in the division at MIS. Milton's Chris Stocks made his racing debut in a great looking truck (#21). Chris tells us that this was his first race of any kind. Good luck in 2005 Chris and thanks for coming out to race with us at MIS. Bryan Pautsch of Sun Prairie picked up his first checkered flag with a heat win and Joe Wipperfurth, piloting John Wood's truck, also made his MIS debut.
The Area Sportsman divsion made their 2005 debut with seven cars taking to the track. Carey Hensel of Stoughton picked up his first feature win at MIS. Carey has been instrumental in bringing this division back to MIS and along with Jim and Casey Burns, Cliff Rucks, Mark English, Scott Lawver, and Luke Padfield were part of the opening night field. Lawver has been a force at the Rockford Speedway over the past several years with the other drivers coming to us with a variety of experience at the Jefferson Speedway. Look for this division to continue to grow in 2005.
Next Week at MIS
The ASA Late Model National Series will be coming to Madison on Friday night May 27. The highlight of the evening will be a 100 lap main event for the ASALM. Expect cars from throughout the midwest to be at MIS to take on Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile. Also on the racing program will be the Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Truck Series and Bryden Motors Area Sportsman.
Mid Am Super Trucks Rescheduled
Last week's Mid Am Super Truck show has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 18. The trucks will join the ASL on the racing card that evening. This will be a big weekend of racing at MIS with the first of two visits by the MARS Series taking place on Friday, June 17.

Sponsorship Update
Businesses of any size have a great opportunity to be part of the action at MIS. We are pleased to be working with Weaver Auto Parts, Bryden Motors of Beloit, and Rockweiler Insulation as divisional sponsors in 2005. Weaver Auto Parts has been working with Madison International Speedway for many years. With convenient locations throughout south central Wisconsin we encourage you to stop in and visit them today. New in 2005, Bryden Motors of Beloit has joined us as sponsors for two of our weekly racing divisions. Check out Bryden Motors for your next vehicle purchase. Rockweiler Insulation of Verona is the proud sponsor of the Midwest Truck Series. Gary Rockweiler has been a major supporter of the speedway for many years. We are very proud to have such a great group of supporters with us in 2005.
Many of our sponsors from past years are back with us as well as many new sponsors. You may have heard the "Official Wing of Madison International Speedway" tag at the end of the Quaker Steak and Lube radio commercials.
Food and Drink Anyone?
Miller and Pepsi products are available at MIS every race night. We also feature hot dogs, brats, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and much, much more. New for 2005 are soft pretzels, carmel corn, kettle korn, and cotton candy. For the kids we have a variety of items in our Kids Club stand that is now located just east of the scoring tower.
Kids Club
Be sure to sign up your kids for the MIS Kids' Club. There's all kinds of exciting adventures planned for 2005 and it's all free. Special thanks to Bogey's Family Fun Park of Middleton for sponsoring the coin drop during our opener. Bogey's is a great place to play mini-golf, head for the batting cage, or take on the challenging go-kart track.
See you at the track this Friday night. Stop by and say hi.
