MIS E-News
Week of April 3, 2006
Attention Drivers, Crew Chiefs, and Owners.
Madison International Speedway will be receiving a fresh load of ASALM Torco Race Fuel next Wednesday April 5th. Those of you that have empty drums available and would like them filled on Wednesday, can label them and leave them at MIS during regular hours of 9-5pm or by calling Dave Grueneberg or Steve Einhaus to set up a delivery time. This allows us to fill all of the drums first and then fill up the tank so the first load will last longer. MIS is the only dealer in the Midwest allowed to distribute or sell this fuel other than the series. It's a special blend, and it is some pretty impressive stuff.
We started out with 30 drums last year and we are down to eight. It would be nice to have those needing fuel to return them before next Wednesday for refueling. We have a feeling we are going to have 20 drums show up on practice day and as fast as this fuel is selling, we may run out and need another load. The problem is, we may not get it in time for the first race.
We encourage everyone to spread the word to those that may have not received this notice.
Sincerely,
Steve Einhaus & Dave Grueneberg
Practice Day Reminders
The April 29th practice will be the safety inspection and ASALM Certification Day. We will open the gates at 7:30 am for those needing to get certified. Those that have already had the redundant cup seals (redundant Cup seals installed on top of the manufacturer Seals) installed on their motors at a Certified rebuilder do not have to get inspected. All cars will be verified before they are allowed to practice.
Note: April 29th will be the only certification day for ASA Cars. If you are not certified on or before this day, you will not be allowed to compete on May 12th. Please notify Steve Einhaus (630-212-6022) or Tech Director Ken Lund if you cannot attend on the 29th. Ken-608-443-9297 and we'll make arrangements to visit your race shop.

MADISON INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY, THE TRACK OFCHAMPIONS, CONTINUES ASA MEMBER TRACK RELATIONSHIP
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 14, 2006) – The slogan of the ASA Member Track program is “We Build Champions” and a racetrack that has built many champions over the years, Madison International Speedway, has re-signed for the 2006 season.
The 2006 racing schedule at Madison International Speedway will take on a very different look from previous years as many changes will be occurring at Wisconsin’s Track of Champions.
Fans will be seeing double at MIS in 2006 as the legendary speedplant known throughout the midwest as “Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile,” will now be home to two tracks. Ground was broken in the fall of 2005 to install a state of the art paved quarter mile track inside the half mile oval. With the addition of the quarter mile, the weekly divisions at MIS will take on a distinctive new look in 2006.
“The half-mile is an awesome track and will continue to feature some of the best racing in the midwest. However, the cost of racing on the big track has prevented many drivers from having the opportunity to race at MIS. The installation of the new quarter mile will allow us to add some new, affordable racing divisions in addition to our ASA Late Models and Limited Late Models,” said general manager Dave Grueneberg.
“Over the years, ASA has had many championship drivers, and quite a few of them came directly from Madison,” said Dennis Huth, president of the ASA Member Track program. “Names like Dick Trickle, Matt Kenseth, Travis Kvapil, and more recently Todd Kluever have all learned the ins-and-outs of stock car racing on this legendary track.
“There are few racetracks with such storied history, and Madison International Speedway is among the finest facilities in the Midwest. Located in Oregon, Wis., this half-mile oval has been in operation since 1969 and justifiably bills itself as the “Track of Champions,” said Huth.
The 2006 season features a healthy mix of regular track divisions and special events. Visits by several touring series, including the ASA Late Model Series (not affiliated with the ASA Racing Member Track program), Wisconsin Challenge Series, HOSS Winged Sprints, and the Hooters Pro Cup will keep local fans on the edge of their seats, but the most anticipated event of the year is likely to be the June 27 Late Model race featuring a return by track champion Matt Kenseth and the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart.
For track information, including the complete 2006 schedule, visit www.MadisonInternationalSpeedway.com or telephone (608) 835-9700. For convenience, fans can even purchase and print their tickets from the web site to bypass the lines at the gate.
“We have so many exciting programs planned for this year that I think it will be one of the best yet,” said track owner Terry Kunes. “I doubt that there are many short tracks that are fortunate enough to blend the local racers and the traveling series like we have been able to schedule. It looks like we can continue to produce champions under the ASA banner, and I truly believe that part of our success and the reason we continue to grow and become more popular each year is due in part to the ASA affiliation.”
“The ASA Member Track program has only helped to elevate the status of Madison International Raceway,” claimed Steve Einhaus, track promoter. “ASA has had such a strong following over the past several decades in the Midwest, and has certainly added to the value of our track as the fans and racers both know the strength of the brand.”
Tracks and regional touring series that join the ASA Racing Member Track Level II program are eligible to receive marketing assistance, enhanced participant accident insurance, and will be the spot for today’s fans to watch the stars of tomorrow learn the trade.

Media Watch
Each week we send out press releases to both local and national media. If you notice our articles appearing on various websites or in racing newspapers or local papers please let us know. All of us in local racing are diligently trying to get the word out about our tracks...sometimes with success and other times not so successfully.
Please don't be afraid to contact your local newspaper or radio station and ask them why they aren't carrying results from MIS.
MIS Driver Feature: Mike Lichtfeld
This will be the first full season of racing for nineteen year old Mike Lichtfeld of Portage, Wisconsin, as he will be competing in the hobby stock division on the new quarter-mile at MIS.
Lichtfeld, a 2005 graduate of Portage High School, is a former three sport athlete competing in football, basketball, and track. He is one of many new drivers coming to MIS with an extensive background in high school sports.
Being around racing is nothing new to Lichtfeld who has helped his dad who races super late models by being crew chief and spotter the past four years. Last season Mike was able to get behind the wheel for the final two races of the year at the Dells Motor Speedway and picked up a semi-feature win on his first night and garnered a heat win the following week.
Lichtfeld has set specific goals for himself as he enters the season: "I want to be competitive, win a feature, finish in the top five, win rookie of the year, and have fun and make new friends." Of course he also added what most drivers say, "Don't tear up my car."
With the addition of the new track, MIS will now be home to many of the top young drivers in the midwest, and all of us at MIS would like to welcome Mike and his #44 hobby stock to the speedway.
Driver Feature: Andrew Morrissey
Super late model track record holder Andrew Morrissey of DeForest has some very ambitious plans for the 2006 racing season.
As Morrissey puts it, "I this will be a busy season for me!" That would be an understatement.
Morrissey will be competing in the weekly ASALM division at Madison International Speedway along with the ASA Late Model Northern Series. He is also planning on racing weekly at Slinger, compete in special events at WIR, race as many WCS events as possible, and participate in NASCAR Midwest Elite Series events in the area. When time allows he will also travel to special events at other midwest short tracks.
Keep your eye on Andrew this summer as he aims for the coveted ASALM title at MIS.
Drivers, please help let us keep the fans informed about what's happening by sharing your plans for the 2006 season.
Sponsorship opportunities are available at all levels of financial commitment. Contact our office at 608.835.9700 to see how we can work with you.
