Open Practice This Saturday

Drivers and teams are reminded that this Saturday from Noon to 5:00 PM will be an open practice session at MIS for all cars and trucks planning on racing in
2007. Pit gates open at 10:00 AM and pit passes are $10.00. All vehicles will have to go through a safety inspection before going on the track and all driver
information must be filled out too. I will be there to collect your info on Saturday. If you were here last week and took care of all this you're ready to go.

Driver Features

I am getting calls and emails from local media outlets wanting to do stories on drivers and race teams. They are looking for the human interest angle...if interested, please let me know.

Practice Observations from April 28

Beautiful weather greeted over 40 drivers who came to MIS for practice last Saturday. Hats off to everyone for having all driver information sheets ready to go
and we appreciate your patience while going through tech.

Eighteen drivers were on hand in the Madison Late Model division with eight each in the Limited Late Models and Bandits. We also had four Super Late Models, a couple of Legends, and two Midgets. Jeremy Miller and Bobby Wilberg were there with multi-car teams.

Three former Sportsman drivers will be making the move to the Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models this season. Ryan Goldade, Jim Burns, and Casey Burns will be joining what is expected to be a very competitive group of drivers in 2007.

One driver who will be returning to MIS in 2007 is former Super Late Model driver Ralph Gentile of Racine. Ralph seemed surprised people remembered him
but how many people does Gary Schmelzer forget! Scott Broughton of Stoughton will be running in the Limited Late Models in 2007.

One of the drivers to watch in the Madison Late Models is Tom Gille of Winnebago, Illinois. Tom's team has some big plans for 2007 and he is a driver who is
always very competitive at MIS. You will also be hearing about some of the special promotional plans from the 35 car very soon.

World traveler Jon Minor was on hand with Mike Adams sharing some of the driving for his Madison Late Model. Jon has made over fifty trips to Asia as part
of his job at Trek. Since work comes first he will have Mike in the car when he's on the road...or in the air.

Sixteen year old Zach Reinning of Forreston, Illinois, also made his debut at MIS on Saturday. He was in a 93 car but the number will be switched to 5 for the
season opener.

Former Midwest Modified champion Paul Treuthardt of Monroe will be in the Madison Late Model division in 2007 with his #9 car.

The Bandits field looks wide open this season. Alex Jones and Steve Dickson were fastest on Saturday but look out for the Skolaski boys who are sporting new
cars for the '07 season. Not only do the brothers have new cars but new nicknames over the driver's side door. The Bandit division is a great place to get started in racing...come race with us in 2007.

David Byrne of Shullsburg had his two midget cars here for practice in anticipation of our open wheel night this season.

Bethany and Joel Wyttenbach had their Legends cars on the asphalt and seemed to get around the quarter mile very quickly. This is new to the brother and sister
team who normally race at Beaver Dam on the dirt. We're hoping they come back and bring some of their friends from the dirt with them to challenge the asphalt Legends. Speaking of Legends...there might be a very familiar name in the division this year.

I would like to personally thank all of the drivers for having all of their registration materials ready to go on Saturday, If you couldn't make it we hope to see you this Saturday. Hope that most of you who were here last weekend can make it Saturday too.

That's all for now. See you at the races this weekend.
