Heres the latest from Madison International Speedway.

Just a reminder that there is no racing on Friday night due to the Badger State Tractor Pull which is scheduled for Saturday night. Weekly Friday night racing continues on May 23rd.

Badger State Tractor Pullers Here on Saturday Night

Gates will open at 6:00 PM with the first pull scheduled for 7:00 PM. Tractor pulling action is slated for Pro Stock and Super Farm Classes with two divisions of 4x4 trucks also on the schedule. This should be an exciting night of entertainment for the entire family.

Dirt will be hauled in this week and placed on the front stretch pit lane starting near turn four. Once the pull is complete the dirt will be taken off the track and kept at MIS until the Lucas Oil Pro Pullers National Championship in September.

Bring Your Truck to MIS on Saturday Night

So how much weight can your gas or diesel truck pull? Do you want to find out? We will be offering two spectator classes for street legal trucks this Saturday night. Drive your truck to the track and enter the MIS truck pull. For more information you can call Dave Grueneberg at 608.513.2278.

Payouts Will Be Posted on Website

Payouts in the Area Sportsman division have been revised and all five divisional payouts will be posted in the Download section of our website.

Looking Back at the Season Opener

The weekly Friday night opener brought a nice field of cars to MIS as Wisconsins Fastest Half-Mile welcomed back both the Super Lates and the Area Sportsman. We would like to thank everyone for their patience as we experienced some lines at tech or some confusion finding pit stalls. Hopefully everything is now in place for a very successful 2008 season for all of you. Here are some comments about each of the divisions:

Super Late Models: Great to see Steve Rubeck in victory lane. Steve is very focused on winning the track championship in 2008 and it was great to see him get a good start. The road to the championship wont be easy as an impressive list of drivers is in position to challenge for the top spot and put their name on a list of the best in the Midwest who can call themselves champions at MIS.

Limited Late Models: Congratulations to Chad Stevens on winning the 30 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models. Chad is an excellent driver and is going to be tough to beat whenever and wherever he races. It was another solid run by Ross Kenseth as he finished second to follow up his fifth place finish in the Big 8 Series event at MIS. It is very evident that he is a talented driver and has done very well on the half-mile in his first two races. A great run for Nate Oppliger who moves to the limited lates from the former Madison Late Model division. Nate has been a loyal supporter of MIS and its good to see his season off to a great start. Former track champions Tyler Kelley and Mike Storkson also seem to be getting used to the speed of the big track. This division is going to be wide open this year.

Area Sportsman: Jay Kalbus won the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman event that featured twelve cars. Great to see the Sportsman back on the big track, and if youre thinking of coming out to race with us, its going to be a lot of fun in 2008. Doug Bennett looked very solid in what I believe is his first race at MIS. The Area Sportsman payout is going to be slightly adjusted per a discussion with several of our racers.

Legends: The Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends came out to MIS with Alex Arelano picking up his first-ever MIS feature win. This division really features a diverse group of drivers from fourteen year olds to some time-tested veterans. They are a fun group and will definitely grow in numbers.

Bandits: Chester Ace won the feature for the Roto Rooter Bandits by topping an eight car field. Aces win was worth $150.00thats right. The Bandit pay is good and we are hoping to see more of you come out to take on the quarter mile. Keep your eye on the brothers Skolaski as they approach their first feature wins.

Waynes Custom Dash Update
By Wayne Forsythe

Here are a couple of reminders regarding the Waynes Custom DIECAST. Drivers have to be signed up and decals on their cars to be able to run in the Trophy Dash Series. I have to be strict on this because if an owner or driver does not want to sign up or is thinking about it and the night comes and they are not signed up they cant run the Series that night. The only exception is if it is the drivers first night at MIS. It is not fair to the drivers that took time to fill out my sheet to have to sit one out. If anyone wants to sign up or has a question they can contact me at 608-513-3813.

Thanks Wayne.

The Chaplains Corner
By Todd Christopherson

We are open and running. You guys put on a great show Friday. It was good to see the supers back and the good car count. We will be praying for bandits and legends to increase..
I have to start with a reminder to all to pray for Casey Burns and for the Millers (Scott and Mike). They have given a lot to the racing community. We also should be praying for the people down south and in Myanmar.
Second, we have to thank God for our Moms and all they have done.
So I read this week in my Scene magazine that my guy, Morgan Shepherd that Steward had given him tires. I e mail him weekly to encourage Morgan and he has wrote back a couple times that there are some cool things coming together. I was teasing him about what the likelihood of a 66 year old guy having a good year would be and then add that he is an outspoken Christian. I told him 1 in 6 billion plus all the ones prior to today.
Anyways, he said he was joking with Steward that at Talladega, I know you looked in the mirror and saw that big ol yellow Jesus logo and said, Jesus is after me! As I thought about that I thought I am so glad Jesus is after me too and you also. God is patient not wanting anyone to perish (1 Peter 3:15). But He does have His ways to get to Him, not our own.
Have you give into Jesus on His terms? Are you following Him on His terms? Are you running after Him as much as He was after you? Are you completely sold out to Jesus and is He first in your thoughts and life? I hope so.
Have a great day in the SONshine and see you at the track soon,

Thats all for this week. See you at the tractor pull on Saturday night and at the races again on Friday, May 23rd.
