MIS E-News
Week of June 30, 2008
By John Wells
Attention Race Fans,
Here's the latest from Madison International Speedway. We hope to see many of you this Friday night for our Night of Thrills event that will be taped for the Lucas Oil "On the Edge" series and will likely air during the off season.
We've made some changes to the main page of our website...check it out.
What a big week of racing here at MIS as we hosted the RK Race Promotions Swiss Colony All Star Challenge and the Boucher Auto Group Fireworks Extravaganza.
The guys from Thunder Cat Fireworks once again put on an outstanding show. A big thanks goes out to our friends from the Boucher Group (Gordie Boucher of Janesville, Frank Boucher of Janesville, and Gordie Boucher of Madison) who sponsored the event. The Boucher Group has been actively involved in racing at MIS since the track re-opened in 1992. If you were here for the fireworks we hope you enjoyed the show. If you couldn't make it try to do so next year!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Fillner family. Former MIS owner Kevin Fillner passed away last Monday and his funeral was on Thursday. I always enjoyed working with Jerry, Donna, and Kevin.
Get well wishes go out to Vern Fagerbergs mom who was in the hospital last week. The Fagerbergs are great people and one of my first visits when I get to the pits.
A big thank you goes out to the Skolaski family for helping get the four cylinder house cars prepared for the Boucher Auto Group Managers Race.

Looking Back at Friday Night
Congratulations to the five feature winners this past Friday night. We ran a slightly different schedule to allow us to run the fireworks program at 9:30. We were carefully monitoring the radar throughout the night and want to thank all of the teams for quickly getting lined up and on the track to race.
Super Late Models: It was two in a row and #3 on the season for Steve Rubeck who held off Bobby Wilberg for the victory. Once again a very competitive field of super lates was on hand which makes for exciting races.
Just a reminder that our super late model drivers are part of the ASA national points system and are competing for a tryout with Joe Gibbs Racing. The competition includes drivers from all forms of oval track racing from throughout the country.
Limited Late Models: Bobby Wilberg returned to victory lane and added to his point lead in the division. Everyone who came to race was able to run in the feature tonight. We have had five different feature winners in as many nights so far in 2008 in the LLM. Andrew Kulka won the Waynes Custom DIECAST Dashthe third different driver to do so in as many races.
Area Sportsman: Jay Kalbus won for the third time this season in a race shortened to fifteen laps. Tough breaks for both TJ Goldade and Mike Heelein who left the race early.
Bandits: Stephen Scheel looked like he was going to win last week but came up short. This week there was no denying the young Lake Mills driver who picked up his first feature win of the year and fourth of his career at MIS. It was a good battle for the lead between Cheeseburger Skolaski and Kyle Padfield until the two got together.
Legends: Once again it proved to be the Arelano-McNamara show as the two Illinois drivers battled it out with Arelano eventually picking up his fourth win of the season. Give credit to McNamara as he had a tire go down midway through the race yet was still able to challenge for the win. Nice run by the Hermanator who finished third.
You can go to our website for the full race report. If you want to click on the mylaps logo you can get the lap by lap record of both the super late and limited late model races. You can also go to speednetdirect.com to get our updated points.
Did You Know? Feature winners in the Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, and Area Sportsman receive over $200.00 in Contingency Connection coupons each night. These certificates are good at Mos Gold, Wilwood Disc Brakes, Moser, AED Performance, Holley, Hooker, Earls, Weiand, Design Engineering, Spal, VHT, and Flitz. We also have contingency awards for our super late and limited late model runner-ups.

The Chaplains Corner
By Todd Christopherson
It is the Fourth of July week and weekend and that is the celebration of Independence. We pray much at this time of year for soldiers and those that have paid a great price for our freedom. And we are very thankful for the country we live in.
I also think at this time of year of the freedom we can have from sin only because of what Jesus Christ did on the cross. I am thankful that when I was in bondage of sin God opened my eyes. There is a great verse to back this up. 2 Cor 3:16-17 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (NIV) The freedom can only come on Gods terms. We have to have Jesus as the Lord of our life. Then the promise of God is offered and it is a hope that only faith can bring. This can be the best Fourth of July ever if you call out on Jesus as Lord and believed in you heart that God raised Him from the dead. The sweetest place is the freedom of salvation that God give.
Now one warning, This freedom does not give us the freedom to live how we want. After all salvation is on Gods terms and we have to be will to change our lives completely.
I pray that you have a safe week and weekend.
See you at the track and have a great day racin in the SONshine,
Todd
Thats all for now. See you at MIS on the Fourth of July.
