Mayor of Madison 100 Set for MIS on Friday Night

Tuesday, July 22, 2008 (Oregon, WI) An impressive field of ASA Late Model Series Northern Division drivers is lining up to compete in the Mayor of Madison 100 set for this Friday night at Madison International Speedway.  The Madison event is Round One of Border Wars for the series with the second round scheduled for the Rockford Speedway on Saturday night.

Eddie Hoffman of Wheaton, Illlinois, is the current point leader by just two points over former MIS regular and New Glarus, Wisconsin, native Jesse Saunders.  Current MIS Limited Late Model rookie Brett Moffitt of Grimes, Iowa, comes into the race in third place.  Last year’s winner, Robbie Pyle, will also be back to defend his victory.  The race will bring drivers from throughout the Midwest, but it will definitely feature some very familiar faces to Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile.

Current MIS Weaver Auto Parts Super Late Model point leader Nathan Haseleu of Pardeeville, Wisconsin, is among the local entries.  Multi-time track champion Bobby Wilberg of Beloit, Wisconsin, will also be part of the star-studded lineup.  Former Limited Late Model champion Jeremy Miller of Rockton, Illinois, is also entered.  Former Madison Late Model drivers Brent Brevak, Troy Hintzsche, Jason Tyler, Dave Gentile Jr., and Michael Pickens are also expected to be in the lineup.

Midwest short track stars such as Travis Dassow, Steve Carlson, Trent Snyder and Dan Fredrickson are also expected to be in Friday night’s field.  Add in young guns such as 2007 MIS Legends Champion Blake Brown, Michael Bilderback, and Becca Kasten and this race has all of the ingredients to become a true MIS classic.

Joining the racing program will be the Grand National Vintage Series.  These fully restored stock cars are not just for show as they will battle it out on the half-mile.

Pit gates on Friday will open at 1:00 with the first practice session set for 3:30.  Qualifying is slated for 6:30 with racing set to begin at 7:30.
