Here is the latest from Madison International Speedway…Get Close to Racing…Close to Home.

The Countdown is On to May 4th Season Opener

We’ve had some big season openers in the past, but this year is going to prove to be the biggest ever with the ASA Midwest Tour and Big Eight Series on the racing program.  Steve and Tim have done an outstanding job with the ASAMT and a huge car count is expected.  Gregg definitely has the right idea for a traveling series for the limited late models with the Big 8 Series!  I’m thinking we could see close to 100 cars in the pits for the opener.

Practice Dates Set For Madison International Speedway

Saturday, April 26th and Saturday, May 3rd
Pit Gates Open at 10:00 AM
On Track Activity from Noon – 5:00 PM

Pit passes are $15.00 each day.

All cars must go through a safety inspection prior to going on the track.  Engines may not be started until noon each day.  Cars can be pushed through inspection prior to noon.

MIS drivers must have all paperwork completed before being allowed to practice.  This includes car owner payout, membership and driver information forms.  All of this information is available on our website.

Haulers may not remain in the pits after practice on May 3rd .

For more information contact Dave Grueneberg at 608.513.2278.

The ASAMT has a strict 7 day testing policy that is in effect for 2008. No competitors are allowed to test at MIS within (7) seven days of the event. That rule will effect competitors that are going to race in our opening day event at MIS on Sunday due to an open practice the day before.

Anyone that is planning to compete in the ASAMT event on May 4th may not practice on the day before the event to reduce costs. However, they are allowed to practice the week before on April 26th Saturday.

Our rule does allow competitors to race at a scheduled event within the seven day limit but  MIS has not officially opened yet. We apologize for any concerns but in order to be fair to every competitor, we have instituted the testing rule.

Any questions about this event can be referred to Steve Einhaus by calling the series office at 262.514.3880.

Attention Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Model Teams

A message from Wayne and Donna Forsythe of Wayne’s Custom DIECAST

I just want to get the word out that Donna and I are running the Hard Charger Award and the six race Trophy Dash Series again at MIS. If you want to sign up early you can contact me via e-mail or call me.(dalejr-8@sbcglobal.net or 608-513-3813.)

If you sign up you have to have my two decals on the car (Bottom of rear window on the right and left sides.) so you can be scored for the Hard Charger Award and to be able to run in the Trophy Dash Series.

Also, I just want to explain that these two programs are Driver Awards. If the owner would like a duplicate of a trophy that his or her driver wins they can contact me.
I will be at the two open practices on April 26th and May 3rd to try to sign up drivers.  These have been two great programs and I enjoy being part of the action at MIS. We have had drivers getting their first win in the Trophy Dash to having the Hard Charger Award being decided by five points in the last four years.

I want to thank all the drivers who have competed in these programs over the last five years.  I have been doing replicas of race cars at local tracks for nine years. The driver who started it all was Chad Wood. Thanks Chad. And special thanks to Brady Liddle for the privilege of being a primary sponsor on your car and for adding Custom in Wayne's Custom DIECAST.

Thanks to everyone at the track for all the help and allowing us to run these two programs.
