Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League National Championships Coming to MIS this Weekend
Two divisions of tractors and one division of trucks will be coming to Madison International Speedway for the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling National Championships sponsored by the Kunes Automotive Group. Pro Stock and Super Farm Tractors along with 4x4 Modified Trucks will be in action on Friday, September 13th and Saturday, September 14th.
This will be the second pulling event of the season at MIS with the earlier pull in May rained out after the truck portion of the pull.
So how does an asphalt track known as Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile become a tractor / truck pulling facility? “It’s a lot of work and will take several days to complete,” said MIS General Manager Dave Grueneberg. For starters, a total of seventy-two truck loads of dirt will need to be brought in and placed on the front stretch pit lane. “The people from the Badger State Tractor Pullers have been extremely helpful,” noted Grueneberg.
“We are very excited about having the national championships at MIS. We would like to see this become an annual event at Madison. Tractor and truck pulling is very popular in this part of the country and we’re looking forward to a great show,” added Grueneberg.
Pit gates on both Friday and Saturday open at 5:00 PM with the grandstands open at 6:00 PM and the first pull slated for 7:00 PM. Nightly admission for fans seventeen and older is $15.00, ages 7-16 is $10.00 and children under six are free. Pit passes are $25.00 per night.
