MIS E-News -Week of August 2, 2010
By John Wells

Here is the latest from Madison International Speedway, an ASA member track.

Come out to MIS this Friday night for an exciting night of racing.  Point races are heating up with four point nights / five features remaining on the 2010 schedule.

A special thank you to all of the teams, sponsors, and fans who have supported MIS each week in 2010 and in previous years as well.

Thanks to Wayne Ace Bus Service for sponsoring the trophies for our feature winners.

Congratulations to feature winners Jeremy Miller, Bobby Wilberg, Brad Luck, Max McNamara and Chester Ace.  It may be one of the first times that I recall all point leaders winning features on the same night.

Drivers-  bring your Late Model, Sportsman, Hobby Stock, Bandit, or Legend to MIS and race.  If you're planning on coming to the Fall Classic now is a great opportunity to get some time on track.

ASA Educational Series Awards Night

Graduating seniors who participated in the ASA Educational Series program at Madison International Speedway will be recognized this Friday night.  Scholarships awards ranging from $2,000 all the way up to $20,000 will be presented to ten students.  Several of these ASAES members will be attending Ohio Technical College in Cleveland, Ohio, later this month.

Larry Pond, president of the ASA Educational Series, will be at MIS to present the awards along with Randy Dziadowicz from Ohio Technical College, Dave Grueneberg from MIS, and Kevin Ramsell from the ASA.  The awards program for the graduating seniors will take place at 5:30 with all students in the program being recognized during intermission.  Parents and students will be gathering under the VIP pavilion for the 5:30 awards program.

The amount of each scholarship to Ohio Technical College is based on a variety of criteria maintained by the national office of the ASA Educational Series that includes driver points, a weekly journal, and more.  Award winners include Max McNamara, Allan Braatz, Andrew Burt, John Degrazio, Vern Fagerberg Jr. Shane Kuntzsch, Nathan Ostrowsky, Andrew Simon, Christopher Swayze, and Daren Wittman.

"This program would not be possible were it not for the teams at MIS who are willing to work with young people," said MIS General Manager Dave Grueneberg.  "Several teams have stepped up to be mentors including many that have been with the program each year.  This is great for the teams, the kids, and the future of racing."

MIS is proud to be part of the ASA Educational Series and is one of two tracks in Wisconsin hosting the program.

Suggestions Needed

We are looking at running two racing events as part of Night of Destruction on Friday, September 3rd.

The events will be known as the Kings of the Ring and will include a four cylinder division and an eight cylinder division.  At this time we are looking at Bandits / Internationals / Short Trackers / Four Cylinder Enduros comprising the four cylinder division and Area Sportsman, Hobby Stocks, Thunderstocks, and Enduros in the eight cylinder division...open rules and "run what you brung" style.

Need some suggestions on format...email me at mismedia2@yahoo.com.

The Chaplain's Corner

By Todd Christopherson

It was good to see us get the races in Friday. For I while I did not think we were going to get the run in. I hope that Chad, Kevin, others are ok after some tough contact. It is always good to hang out and get the stories and updates. I was talking to one of the guys and how this is such a great sport in that it keeps the family together and working together on the cars.

I have been thinking about how good God is to us. We see His hand at work. We only see that if we will believe in Him and what His Word. Listen to John 11:40 Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" So we can have God work a miracle or give us a blessing and completely miss it or we can be attentive to His glory. God can do amazing things. We read in His Word the parting of the water, victories by small armies, healing of the ill... The greatest of all was Jesus rising from the dead. Do you believe Jesus rose from the dead? Know I mean do you really believe it? Stop and think about it and then think about the marriage that is going bad. God can... Think about the child in trouble. God can.... Think about the illness, the job, about the house, etc. GOD CAN! I hope you see God at work in your life. It is great to share those stories with each other.

See you soon at a local track and have a great day in the SONshine,

Todd

By the way, one of the ministries supporters blessed us with large Team Jesus Racing Ministry decals. If you would like one for your truck or car let me know. They are 12 x 20.

Happy Birthday Chuck
