Haese wins Yellow Book Mid-Am event at 141

FRANCIS CREEK, WI -- Gregg Haese, a three time track champion and former series rookie of the year, wheeled the Cedar Lake Resort Monte Carlo to victory in the Dick Grall Memorial Yellow Book USA Mid-American Stock Car Series feature Saturday night at 141 Speedway before a big crowd. Dennis Rabas led the opening 28 laps around the banked quarter-mile with Haese on his rear bumper. Bill Prietzel, a former series champion, pressured Haese for the second position by lap 20. Prietzel, however, drifted high on lap 23 and gave up several positions.

Haese powered past Rabas on the outside on lap 28. Haese pulled away slightly while Preitzel worked the outside groove to regain some spots. Preitzel got around Greg Herrmann for third position on lap 43 and then charged past Rabas for second postion on lap 46. Thomas Garbacz spun on lap 54 to bring out the caution flag. This tightened the field up behind Haese, but he was able to hold off Preitzel for the win. Rabas come home in third with fast qualifier Bob Schultz fourth. Schultz bested a 31-car field in time trials with a lap of 12.335. Herrmann and Shawn Upthall rounded out the top six.
