GREEN BAY, WI -- Brett Piontek will have some big footsteps to follow in as he begins the 2003 racing season behind the wheel of his dad's 2003 Monte Carlo. The father and son team will take on the best drivers in the paved track touring Yellow Book USA Mid-Am Stock Car Series beginning Saturday night, April 26 at the Elko Speedway in Elko, MN at 7 p.m.

"We kind of sat out of it for a while," Randy noted. Some of the top drivers who drove for the Piontek Team included former NASCAR Winston Cup champion Alan Kulwicki, NASCAR Busch Series and Craftman Truck Series driver Richie Bickle, NASCAR Craftsman Truck driver Bobby Dotter, and ASA and ARTGO drivers Scott Hansen and Steve Holzhausen. Prior to racing on asphalt Piontek owned cars driver on northeastern Wisconsin dirt tracks by Roger Paul and Doug Larson. "We had some real good years on the dirt," Piontek said. "But two of the highlights for me were putting Alan Kulwicki on the pole at the Milwaukee Mile and taking a second place in ASA," he added. His last taste of paved track racing was six years ago when Eddie Muenster drove his car to rookie of the year honors at Wisconsin International Raceway during the Fox River Racing Club Thursday night events.

His son was a dominate driver in go kart racing at the Dousman track. "We were quite successful there," Piontek said. Last year his son raced an IMCA stock car at area dirt tracks. He was sixth in points at the Manitowoc Expo and eigth in points at Thunderhill in Sturgeon Bay. He also earned rookie of the year honors
at Manitowoc. The team's 2003 sponsors include Xlerator Performance Exhaust, Hurkman Mechnaical, Juice Time, Catco Catalytic Converters and Goerlich's Exhaust.
